I ordered a jacket using Wested's website, and I received the basic "Order Confirmation" e-mail. How long should I expect to wait before receiving any further information? Should I assume everything's going fine, or should I send a query just to make sure?
What have you folks experienced lately?

I ordered two jackets from Wested and both times got the same e-mail you did. In two to three weeks I received my jacket. Just hang in there pal.

So that's the only contact you got, the intitial confirmation e-mail, no "your order has been shipped" notification? Oh the wait's gonna kill me.

There usually is a confirmation email that the jacket has shipped or will ship. They go out in batches. With Gemma and/or Peter being so busy, the confirmation email is sometimes not sent and the jacket just shows up within about three weeks. Both times I received a confirmation email about the shipment. Tracking it is another matter. Best thing I found after getting the confirmation is to ignore it and forget about the jacket altogether. It will show up faster, that way.

I have had really mixed results dealing with Gemma at Wested. Sometimes the responses are "Johnny on the spot", and others are M.I.A. (Sorry, I thought I should use two military references in that comparison, for some reason). Wested does great work, but sometimes misses the mark on the little details, while other times getting every single request as ordered. They do produce a great jacket, so hopefully things will go well for your order. We seem to be out of any sort of rushed season orderwise. I agree that forgetting about the order, seems to work the best. But, let us know how everything comes out, and how your communication experiences go. If you need to cheer or vent, we're here for ya. If you need to cheer or vent, we're here for ya. Now THAT is a refreshing offer. It's great to know there's finally a place out there that will let a person talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly, rather than strictly the good.

It tends to get ugly and bad when you can only talk about the good. Only three more weeks of ugly until your jacket comes in, SkyChief.

Yeah, the smell of a new Wested tends to make up for any waiting you had to do! I actually got my first one in less than 2 weeks from the order date, so you could get just as lucky. Ken

I just got impatient. But as you put it 5 weeks really wasn't a long enough amount of time to complain about. Though it felt like an eternity.

Five weeks must feel like an eternity, especially nowadays. We are so used to next day delivery etc. 3 weeks is about right for the States some people have had 14 days. Obviously this is not a blindingly busy time of year for them. I've always had great communications with Gemma the couple of times I've talked to her on the phone she's been very nice and helpful. One word of warning, she writes emails the same way she speaks in a colloquial northern Kent dialect, it can be hard to dicifer, I think it's a distant relation of Bocce. BTW if anyone is in the UK right now, it's a good time to visit Wested as they have their sale on. Lots of stockroom samples etc. They even have a bargain rail with jackets going for £5! But don't bug Gemma with questions, this is a on-the-door sale only I'm sure. Obviously no Indy jackets included. Some of the stuff has been around for a while as it has Leather Concessionaires labels. I did see a black lambskin jacket that had an Indy back complete with action pleats and straps but the front had diagonal slit pockets and a upright mandarin collar. £75. Unfortuantely it wasn't the right cut for me . It was a 38. A few nice ladies jackets going for £45. So guy's if you're looking for an excuse to go down there! Just budget a jacket or 2 for your lady.

He mentioned an Indy back, but with no cargo pockets and a biker style collar, which I assume is a mandarin style. I guess he didn't buy it after all. 'Blues

Not to worry anyoen, but Wested's email communications seem to be hit or miss. When I ordered my wested they were out of the authentic brown goat and Peter was have a really hard time finding quality hides. It look 2 months for me to get my jacket. Much to my surprise and shock my jacket showed up one day out of the blue. I had been looking for an email saying that it had been sent, but never got it. What I learned from my experience is that Peter is really a great guy and he goes to great lengths to make sure you get a top notch product. Even if there emails are lacking at times.

how much will it take for a standard sized jacket?

You can always call and find out if they have your size in stock. If so, you'll have it in about a week, or as long as the post takes to get it to you from Wested.
I would love to buy a standard off the rack Indy, but the arm measurements seem rediculously long. AND I have long arms for my height. 'Blues 'Blues

'Blues Yes, it sounds exactly like one of the jackets a COW member had custom made. SO this is what happens to the jackets that get sent back. I'm surprised they took it back. It must not have fit him either.

indianadirk, are you asking how much the standered jacket cost or how long it will take to get it to you?
