I see that Wested offers a "standard" soft goat ROLA jacket on their website. Any thoughts on this jacket? I only ask because it is reasonably priced at 100 BP. Is the lambskin worth the extra 45 BP? Help. I will wear this jacket pretty often.

Well for one, it's not actually made by Wested - they import it from elsewhere, and then badge it up (sans Union Flag). As such, it's not really a Wested, so if you're wanting a jacket from them "because it's a Wested", you're going to fail with this. On the other hand, Peter has put a note on the listing saying that although they're not made in the UK, they are to Wested's specs, so should be pretty damn good The other thing is, that this jacket doesn't have those extra little features, that make a normal Wested jacket that little bit more special. These include the 50/50 cotton/satin lining (or full cotton if you so wish), the leather facings on the inside of the zip (making that area last longer), or the proper single inner breast pocket. The other differences are that the zipper is of a lower guage (the normal one is very heavy duty!), the body is supposed to be slimmer on this, and the sleeves more tapered. Overall, it sounds as though this is a more "costume" piece than Wested's normal fayre, but if they say it lives up to their normal high standards, it should be a good jacket - especially for £100! In fact, if I hadn't have stumbled across the jacket I eventually bought in the Clearance section (which is a normal Wested), I'd have gone for one of these "standard" ROLA jackets But you'd do well to get some more views, and possibly some better pics too!!

Decided to order last night...had a $100 drop in my lap, so the jacket was only gonna cost me $65 plus shipping out of pocket. They are out of size 44!!! Only have 54 left.

Well it is a Wested, just made abroad.
These were about £135-£145 originally, now that Peter has decided to bring all production back to the England he's put these on clearance.
They are a good deal. If they have your size.

Seriously, a 46 can't be *that* much bigger, surely?

To be honest, I've had several Westeds in both 44 and 46 and I can't really tell the difference. Of course, YMMV.

I'd take a washed goat right now if I thought a 46 would fit. Help! I looked on the Wested sizing chart and didn't see too much difference..... Shoulder:6.85 to 7 Sleeve:25.25 to 25.75 Back:25.5 to 26.5

To be more clear, I found that my Wested 44 and 46 seem to fit very similarly. My Wested 48 feels about like a 46. I base this in reference to the fact that I generally wear a 46 suit/sport coat. I hope others chime in, though, because different years/manufacturers probably means a little variation exists. I keep the 44 and 46 in the fantastical hope that I will some day lose weight and they'll be sitting there waiting for me.
