***Updated 12/10/10 Just called Wested and talked to a man, hopefully Peter. He was very nice, seemed to know exactly what he was talking about. Said my order was processing but they are waiting on pats to ship. He even offered to send the rest of my outfit separately from my pants until they come in. Seemed very pleasent. We will see what happens from here... now to my original post and complaint.. ________________________________________________ Hey everyone, first time poster, but I have been browsing the forums of late. On Nov 29 or 30th I ordered from Wested Leather, I ordered the Combo pack Authentic Lamb ROLA shirt pants, as well as a web belt. I've put on about 50lbs so I ended up ordering a size 50 (hoping I got the sizing right). Anyways, I used paypal and received an email the 30th saying my order was CANCELED (lack of funds), moments later I received an email saying PROCESSING... Naturally I immediately contacted Wested by email to verify if my order was indeed processing. A few days went by no response, so I happened to see Peter was on the forums and emailed him, few days and no response. Finally today I attempted to call, and had no luck. I am from Chicago in the states so I'm not sure if I was dialing wrong or what, but I was unable to get through. As a result I decided to email again, I replied to the order directly, and included both the Canceled and Processing emails. At first I was not concerned but I have been reading all the horror stories on these forums, of problems people have had with Wested. If I had just received a Processing email I would not be concerned given that it has only been 8 days or so, but I also might be waiting for a package that will never come because it was canceled. Oh and Paypal did charge my Card for the funds so I paid for the order. 12/02/10 $422.02 DEBIT CARD PURCHASE AT PAYPAL *WESTEDLEAT, (not giving out the rest of the info haha) I tried calling by dialing the 44 first and there was nothing. Any advice or tips on how to call, or something to relieve my worries and allow me to be more patient without being nervous of being ripped off? I know they are a small business and may be busy with a movie contract, but it takes 2 minutes to read and reply to an email from a customer concerned with whether or not their order was canceled. How long should I wait before contacting paypal? Thanks all, I look forward to being a part of the forums on a positive note, and posting pictures P.s. Our horse trainer used to run a Shriners circus and had pet lions, so he is supposed to give me Bull-whip lessons and give me a real bull-whip for free.

Welcome to the Lounge! Wested is infamous for this kind of lousy customer service. I know I'll be avoiding them. Steven

Yea It's truly a shame.. I really want one from the original maker, Got $1000 for my B-day and debated for a few days of whether to get a Knights Templar Sword or the Indy Combo... I already have a very expensive brown leather jacket, but wanted to get a Raiders style one (despite the fact I like LC more, I already have a brown leather jacket so why not go for a ROLA lamb)... I wish I would have looked at the forums first. I didn't find them until after though, when I was searching for info on something. I'm in an anthropology class and was hoping to show up for class in it, I figured 2 weeks would be enough to at least make the final in the outfit, but apparently the 7-10 days they talk about on site might refer to their average response time in emails (they have 2 more days then). I am not one to complain about companies, but in a rough global economy businesses need to really truly go out of their way for customers. Maybe that's just the way us pushy greedy Americans think though, might be different in the rest of the world.

Well, while you're at it, why not get a better hat? I've heard the Penman's are great. On the subject of Jackets, there's also Todd's jacket, which is cheaper than Wested, as well as U.S. Wings and G&B. That's just about it, besides the Magnoli Adventure Jacket. Steven

haha no dinero for a better hat, lost my job in downtown Chicago, now going to school full-time, took the b-day money for the jacket, and my car payment which is substantial. Kind of sucks, but I have been looking at hats as well, that 1 is the Dorfman, I don't exactly take the best care of it which worries me about spending 300$ on a hat

I've heard that many hats bought by members of this forum just LOVE being abused. Especially beaver felt hats are supremely durable. Steven

Hi there to make an international call you need to dial you International Direct Dial number first then 44 then the number. EG if I were dialing the US from the UK I'd dial 00 (our IDD number) then 1 (the code for the USA) then the phone number. Wested's number is: 0044 1322 660654 Note the 00 and 44? Your IDD may be different. Also remember the time difference! The UK can be 8 hours ahead of you depending on your location! www.howtocallabroad.com/[edit the above link says that your IDD code is 011. Therefore the number you need to call is: 011 44 1322 660654].

Sorry to hear about your problems with Wested and their customer service. They are quite known for that. I hope you can get it settled soon.
Todd makes really nice jackets. They feel good and are very accurate, except for a few details that he will fix on his next run. Penman hats are fantastic. They can sure take some abuse.

KT, I'm not concerned with delivery time, I did not expect it yet, what I am concerned with is the fact I was Charged $422 and received an email saying "CANCELLED NO PAYMENT INFORMATION GIVEN"... I immediately emailed them about that making sure my order was not Canceled. I receieved 2 emails 1 said CANCELED the other said PROCESSING. The concern is not about me not receiving the item yet, it's the fact I have emailed them 3 times about the CANCELLED email, and have not receieved a reply. Unless the weather or an invasion by the trade federation has knocked out their COMMUNICATION, there is no reason they should leave me hanging for 8 days. p.s. TY for the number help, I did 44 not 11 then 44. And I am aware of the time change. They should post how to reach them from the states since I can imagine a majority of their customers are from the states. LOL ok doke. Give that a go in about 10 hours time. 011 first remember! 'Processing' sounds like it's going through. They really have freaky email, I have NO idea why some people get through and others don't.

This whole unemployment thing stateside is killing me. Had a great job before the company went under, now I'm just going to school full-time to finish up my bachelors in business(was part time before). Trying to get my grades up so I can hopefully go to graduate school for Anthropology/History... I realize they are nothing like Indiana Jones, but still love the stuff.

LOL ok doke. 'Processing' sounds like it's going through. That is my hope too being I received that email after I got the canceled one. I tried to be nice in the email and just show that I was concerend about the CANCELLED email, and not accusing them of anything. I'm just hoping everything works out, and I hope I ordered the right size. My suit jackets are a 48L so I ordered a 50 (couldn't figure out how to ask for a L)... I have put on 50 lbs since I lost my job 2 years ago, which has thrown all my clothes sizes off so I am just hoping everything fits ok. If not it will give me more reason to lose weight so I suppose I am supposed to embark on "Indiana Jones and the Lost Fat". Also, Lambskin is the original ROLA material right?

Yeah, it is. There was another material used, but after reading several contradictory posts on a variety of forums, I'm not sure whether it was calfskin or something else. If your Wested doesn't come in the allotted time, try a Todd's Jacket. They're great quality, from what I've read. Steven

You'll be really happy with a Penman. Beaver is the way to go if you are really going to wear it and abuse it. I have a rabbit Raiders from him and it's terrific. What boots are thinking of getting?

The jackets from Todd's newest run don't look like that. That one looks thinner than the one I have. Maybe he changed the leather.

Interesting night and morning, I will be lucky if I even get Christmas money haha... but I'm thinking I'd try to keep the boots around $100 .... $300 seems like so much for a hat but I may give in... I will get back to you guys in a bit....

Well, if you're going for Accuracy, then the only boot that's in the $100 range is the Todd's. And the Todd's aren't currently durable. I've heard that Todd will be going with a new shoe manufacturer, but I don't know too many details as to when they'll come out or if the ones you get are going to be durable.

Aldo have a couple of models that are very Indy like.
Look in their sale section. They seem to have more practical soles too.

This is probably the original thread where the picture was posted. That doesn't necessarily prove when he bought it, but... yeah. That picture and a few other threads on this and other message boards have blacklisted Todd's jacket from my list. Maybe they've gotten better since then, but to me, it will still be a A+ costume jacket, not something I would still be wearing everyday at least 10 years from now. To stay on topic... I really hate to say that stuff like this is making me think about not buying from Wested, but it really is. Too much garbage to go through to get a Last Crusade jacket with the customizations they make available and that I desire. I might go for something simple like the Casino Royale Jacket that should theoretically be harder to mess up, but if they still mess that up, I'd still be in basically the same amount of trouble, so far as the shipping charge and getting email responses goes.

So, since you've ruled out Todd's, Wested, U.S. Wings, and I think G&B, it seems your only option left is Magnoli. Am I right? Steven
