- Wested is in, but only for the Casino Royale jacket. No Indy there for me because of fear of them getting the order wrong, them not responding to my communication, having to return it and getting shafted on the shipping, etc. Even getting this simple jacket might break me, but I'm hoping it won't, should I go this route. This latest bout of communication problems discussed in this topic is just another prick in the foot for Wested.
- Gibson & Barnes hasn't been ruled out at all. If $600 falls out of the sky, I just might ring them up tomorrow.
- There technically isn't anything wrong with Magnoli that would make me not consider them, but something in the back of my head is telling me that I would be happier with something else. I have an inkling why, but still....
- San Diego leather makes a leather jacket that's passable for me, but it seems a little pricey for what I'm getting. The total cost for shipping and the removable liner is $387 for regular sizes, and $407 for long sizes. Their Indy jacket only comes in cow and goat, so it won't work.
- Heron leather makes a number of leather jackets that I like, but something seems a little cheap about their jackets, including the fact that they're lined in fake polyester and made in Mexico. If I'm going to be spending big bucks, I want it to be super nice.
- If $1,000 instead of $600 falls out of sky, I still wouldn't get a Tony Nowak Original shrunken lamb jacket. I'm sure they're nice, but I would probably get a G&B and pocket the extra dough. If $1,000,000 fell out of the sky, G&B's excellent warranty would still defeat Tony Nowak's jacket.

Okay. Rather than try to sort this out and figure out what you want, I'll leave the purchase up to you. Steven

OK so changing this message... Finally got annoyed and called, I talked to I believe Peter, seemed like a very nice man. He said that it did indeed process, and they are waiting on the Pants... Behind with the pants being shipped to him, he said if they are not in soon, he will send the other parts of the combo separately. I won't be getting them in time for my class but oh well. Glad to get this figured out... I wish they responded to emails so I didn't have to call long distance to the UK, but he really seemed to know what he was talking about once I talked to him.... So providing I get the items soon, I must say he seemed like a nice guy (whoever I talked to), and has brightened my mood on the experience. Just do not email them, call it's much easier.

I'm just curious... why are you so against a Tony Nowak jacket? I have 2 and I think they are the best jackets I have ever had. And I have had A LOT of leather jackets.

Speaking off topic here to answer you, I am not against his jackets at all. I'm sure they're super nice, but I can't justify in my mind paying around $1,000 for them. The Gibson & Barnes Expedition appears to offer everything I would want in an Indy jacket, plus an excellent warranty. The extra money could be put to other uses.

It depends on what customs decide to do with it. I've had customs hold my jackets for nearly a month. A lot of times though it is much less.

thanks, if he even shipped it... he said he thought the pants would come in Tuesday, but if not he'd ship separately... I'm hoping I get something soon.. been 16 days now.

Probably because $1,000 is just waaaay too much for most people to ever consider paying for a jacket... or any article of clothing. If someone can swing the price tag and/or justify the purchase for their own reasons, I say go for it. I do think, however, that most people find that to be an insane amount of money to spend on clothing of any kind. I'm just guessing of course... Ken

So what was everyone's consensus on fedoras? Penman? I guess the Henry would be somewhat affordable and timely (not having to wait 6 months)

A Penman will really hold up. They are great quality whether you go rabbit or beaver. They're worth the wait time. Henry's are great too. It's 80% rabbit and 20% beaver. They are durable and high quality as well. And no wait time if John has them in stock.

If I get the required funds for Christmas or anything, I may do that... My stepdad has decided he wants a Fedora to go with his oilslick or whatever you call it jacket (it's long like Western). He likes my crappy Indiana Jones Fedora (as pictured in this board), so I wonder if Penman would do a discount if you order 2 at once (I doubt it). He doesn't want it for the IJ value but likes the style.

(Bare with me, I just watched a political episode of Clone Wars).... thanks guys... I hate to be mad about this, but whatever happened to the Customer comes first? How can you not respond to a concern from a customer when they get charged 422$ for an order and then receive an email that it is canceled... then an email that it is processing... And when you call them they say they will ship it out the next week, and 11 days goes by and not a word... I will wait until Wednesday or Thurs. If no word is received back I will tell them I demand an email or will contact PayPal... This type of thing would be unacceptable in the US. I suppose our way of life has made us overly demanding and developed a sometimes destructive consumer attitude, but to spend $422 in this terrible economy using birthday money for something I really want, but in reality is entirely useless is something Wested should covet. We nerds will do anything to try to be like our fictional heroes, and too often we allow companies to walk all over us with outrageous prices and terrible customer service (Gentle Giant as an example)... We are willing to spend money even in a world recession, to help keep these people in business while most other businesses are struggling. At some point it would be nice if these companies did something nice in return to show their gratitude. I am a fan of Lucas film, because they get it. Yes they allow companies to sell their products at a high price, but they also give back to the fans with amazing conventions, free movie screenings, Disney events etc. I am a capitalist, I love business, but if companies don't maintain relationships with their customers they will collapse. For too long now, companies have been taking us for granted. We both need each other, and no matter how good a product is, a consumer will not return if they had a bad experience with service; be it a restaurant, department store, online shopping, or an international jacket maker. I hope to be blown away by my outfit when it gets here. I spent months looking at it wishing I still had my great job where I could get it. When I got enough money as a gift, I purchased the combo rather than things that are much more of a necessity. As a person with a business degree, I must say that Wested is a terrible company from my experience and that of others. It's easy to ignore an email, or 4 emails from a concerned customer, but if I was lied to over the phone, that is entirely unacceptable. Wested really needs to put the customer first, or they will start to lose many. They offer what appears to be a great product at a good price, and I would love to continue to do business with them. I believe in 3 chances, and thus far they have blown 2 of them. I know Peter has looked at these forums before, but if he sees the outrage against his company’s customer service from many of the posters, maybe he will work to make a change and put the customer first as it should be. We have already seen what happens when companies put themselves before the customer, you get a world-wide recession.

Have you seen what the weather is like in Europe?
The airports and travel networks are in chaos. It's hard to get parcels and deliveries anywhere. Some people have been sitting in the airport waiting for flights since friday.
If passenger flights are not happening, freight flights probably are not either.
Also they may not even have been able to get to the shop for the last 5-6 days.
Have they ever answered any of your emails? The ekm shop is a different system to their email and is automated. Any of your emails to 'X@wested.com'? If not your email address may have something that their spam filter doesn't like.

She finally answered my last email, and blattantly lied to me.
When I talked to Peter on the phone Dec 10, he told me they were waiting on my pants to come in last Tuesday since they were made by another company and they would ship out my order separately from my pants (I paid for 2 shipping costs). She just told me they haven't shipped yet because they have been making my pants and they take longer. Yet I already know that they don't make the pants. So now she says they have been working on making the pants so it takes longer and will ship Wednesday.... It's an outright lie.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure the weather was not like that December 1, the day after I made my order. He told me they had the jackets in stock. It's now 22 after I placed the order and the items never even shipped! You cannot blame weather for not responding to 21 days of emails!

If not your email address may have something that their spam filter doesn't like. I actually finally decided maybe it was my email address as to why they weren't responding, so I switched to a different one... I am not sure if that was the reason I got a response, or the fact I finally put in the subject "Final Attempt" .. so not sure what got the response, but I don't know how you can defend them so much when virtually anything I have read about their customer service is putrid.... I imagine the product will be amazing and well worth it.. Trust me, if it is everything I hope it is, I will be praising Wested when and if my package comes.

Unless the bad weather blew up an email server or ransacked phone lines, it can't be blamed for a lack of response to jedimastered's emails, misinformation over the phone, flip-flopping between saying the item's been shipped and the item hasn't been shipped, etc. I can understand the item being late because of the bad weather, but I'm afraid that's only a small piece of the whole thing that's making jedimastered upset.
I've seen too many accounts resembling jedimastered's for all of the lack of communication--and misinformed communication, at that--to be blamed solely on weather. This has evolved beyond a package merely being late. He's already paid for shipping twice and lost some of the intended shipping savings of buying the combo pack, which is really the point of selling the combo in the first place--saving the customer shipping money. He's paid a large wad of cash, overpaid for shipping, and had all kinds of communication trouble, and still nothing to show for it all. I believe he has every right to be worried at this point.

babuchanan... ok I must confess. I paid for 2 shipping but that's because I also ordered the Webbelt, which was more to ship than the cost of the belt.. still why charge me for 2 items to ship when I bought them at the same time? And yea I was told they would ship the jacket and shirt separately if my pants had not been shipped to them by Tuesday (last week)... well Gemma's email today said that its taken so long because
"As your trousers are size 44 is not the standard they needed to be made, the trousers will be dispatched on Wednesday" ok so first off you guys don't make them, 2nd off WTF about my jacket, shirt and belt? You are just shipping the pants Wednesday? um no you are just lying to try and appease me. Pathetic!!!! I don't know how to respond! so I just simply asked if the other items already shipped or are shipping out Wednesday as well? Pathetic company, the product better be worth it

I really hope this stuff is sitting in US customs.
At the best of times it take about a week for stuff to get from the UK to the US by post. Not withstanding it's Christmas. Planes here are NOT FLYING and their shop is probably cut off by snow?
How are they meant to get the stuff to you? Matter transporter?

Um, first off, they haven't even shipped it yet!!!! I ordered it 21-23 Days ago and they haven't shipped any of it! I don't know why you are defending them... They have not shipped anything, they refused to email back until I implied I would contact PayPal... They have lied to me on the phone and in Email..
How can you defend "we don't make the pants we are waiting for them to be shipped to us, but we will ship you other items" and then say "we had to make your pants special so we will ship everything tomorrow".. It is a blatant lie.. I receive an email saying CANCELED FUNDS NOT AVAIABLE, but then get charged $422 on my card.. How would you like to order something from the US get told the order was canceled but then see that $422 is gone from your account and get no reply to you concern for 3 weeks + ? While I voiced my concern on the boards, I have been more than patient and kind in my emails to them, yet they have responded to just 1 and that was when I demanded a response.
We won our Independence and then defended it a second time, yet I feel like I'm being treated like a colony!

Appologies, sorry I have been rather upset about the whole situation and been venting on the boards, my appologies KT.... I will try to stick to Facts rather than opinions on the topic. But I would like everyone else's opinion as they have now come up with a new story.. I do not know what to do. PayPal has a limited time to issue a grievance, and I do not want to lose my $422 I trust Wested as a company, just feel I have been unfortunate receipiant of a bunch of factors that have delayed my order from being shipped. The only thing I can think of is to call Peter to see what is going on and avoid emailing.

OK good, called and talked to Gemma, she finally said the problem is they received trousers, but not in my size so they had to wait another week for them, so I just said to go ahead and crap the smaller size. and she said she would ship tomorrow.... time to lose weight and fit them hopefully lol.... My final consensus on Wested Leather Customer Service is CALL THEM, do not Email.. They are very friendly over the phone, but emailing them can be very aggravating....

It's cool... yea I deleted m account, but then was like eh, I should stay.. I hope I can kind of fit into the pants since they are a size smaller, but I need to lose weight badly.... is the weather any better there yet? She said she would ship tomorrow.. stinks that I paid for shipping twice, but I'm at the point I just want to don my new outfit
