For a while now I've been searching around for a second set of close-enough pants that would at least match the Oak Creek pair I own. I found some on sale today at Macy's that I think may be as close as I'm going to get. They are the IZOD American Chino"Basics". It says they are 100% cotton, stain and wrinkle free double pleated. The back pockets don't have the flap which kind of stinks but I can live without them.....it's not that big of an issue with me. The pants were originally $50 but they were marked down to $30 which is a pretty good deal. I just happened to be in the store and I noticed the color of the pants so I walked over to check them out. As soon as I did a pair dropped off the rack onto the floor. I picked them up and they were my size, 36x34 , which surprised me. They also happened to be the only pair left in my size as well. Here are some shots of the pants in different lighting. The color is kind of all over the map but in person it's just slightly darker than my Oak Creek ones. My Oak Creek have also faded due to several washings since I got them so these may as well too. Here are the pics. Oh, yeah and I forgot to add that they are cuffed at the bottom which I'm going to end up removing.

Harry,
You may want to return those and get a pair that is EXTRA LONG.
If you are going to remove the cuffs. You may need the extra material for hemming. Also there may be severe crease lines left from the cuffs. See where the top of the cuff meets the leg. Just my two cents.
Cheers, G-MANN

Cheers, G-MANN The cuffs are only sewn at the sides so I'm just removing the stitching and I'm not going to hem them once I take them down. So if anything they'll be a little longer. As far as the crease goes I did take that into account and from what I can tell the it's not that going to be a problem because it's not that severe. I should be able to just iron it out. These were the only pair they had in my waist size in this color. So I'm kind of stuck as far as options go. I believe they are getting rid of these style of pants and that's why they were marked down. They are very comfortable and fit perfect. If anything they may end up being a little baggy toward the bottom but that's fine with me. I'll post pics of me wearing them with the rest of my gear soon. Thanks for the heads up, G-Mann.

One other plus to buying a slightly longer pair, is having extra material left over to make pocket flaps with! That is a nice looking pair of pants and a great color. I have honestly overlooked many great colored pants, because the pocket flap was important to me. It's not the end of the world of anything, but I just held out for them. Nice pants, and seriously.... you could easily add some pocket flaps to those! Ken

That's a good idea, RB. I may look into doing that with these. Of course I can't sew worth a darn but I do have a few people in my family that can. I think I really lucked out with these. I'd recommend them to other people but I'm not sure how "available" they are. I guess if people are interested they can check IZOD's website or try Macy's website and see if they have them.

The pants have a nice color to them, and the fabric looks good for the part too. They do look pretty close to the Oak Creek pants, colorwise too.... which means they are really close to the NH pants too. Now, we just have to grow you a money tree, so you can get a NH shirt to match! Only kidding, you know I like the Old Navy shirts. The pants look good with it too. Ken

Heck, I just need to grow a "money tree" in general. ;D Christmas is right around the corner and my kids have to come first. I saw G-Mann's shirt thread and to be honest I kind of like the lighter color of the Wested shirt so I may go for that instead. I don't know if I'll get it for Christmas or noit. That's up in the air. The pants are really comfortable and I'm guessing they will lighten up like my Oak Creek have after going through the wash a few times. I think I lucked out with these and I wanted to make sure other people out there got a chance to see them and if they were interested to go look for a pair before they are gone.

Harry,
Read Carefully. That Wested shirt has been Bleached at least 3 times. It came quite a bit darker than in the pics.
Cheers, G-MANN

Yeah, I must have missed the bleach part. Canyon recently told me that the Wested was lighter than the NH as well. Maybe she meant the weight of the shirts and not the color. Are there any shots of what the Wested color looks like before it's been bleached?

I think Dirk's shirt is a Wested isn't it? Here are two more shots I did wearing it with the gear and the jacket. Just to give everyone an idea of how it all looks together.

I am not sure about his shirt being a Wested but his pics are indoors which makes a lot of difference. Maybe he can take an outside pic for you.
Cheers, G-MANN

I look forward to seeing the shirt in the daylight. I've been hearing about the pound being high at the moment but wouldn't the Wested still be a bit cheaper that the NH?

Pitfall Harry, congrats on your new pants purchase. The colour is fantastic (the darker the better IMHO) and good if you want the Raiders colour.

Pitfall, those are pretty cool pants and actually don't look bad just as they are...cuffs and all. They've got the perfect blend of Indy Spirit with the color, and they also have the added benefit of being able to turn into a nice pair of khaki casuals for those moments when you don't want to look full Indy but want to keep the spirit alive. Dockers used to make a baggy fit khaki a few years ago and I loved the way those things fit. Then they shrank the crotch and made the legs too narrow and called them......."loose" fit. They just didn't have the same look. (Of course their color was completely off.) These pants at least have the color down really well.

Thanks Tone and Canyon. Before I shot the pics with me wearing the pants I removed the cuffs at the bottom and ironed them. I don't think I'm going to hem them though because they look fine with the boots or shoes. I guess when I'm looking for Indy pants now the main thing I look for is the Oak Creek color and these were as close as I could find and I've looked everywhere. The pleats are the next and then after that would be pocket flaps so two out of three isn't bad this time around.
