i have been debating about getting another jacket next year for quite a while, but i can't decide what to get. it's simple, ted wested washed goat, or an expedition from Gibson & Barnes. I know it's going to be 50/50 if anybody responds, but i want to get the absolute best jacket that i know i can beat the living crap out of and have it still look good for years and years. my other options would be the the us wings "legend' lambskin or Todd's standard. I figure from reading al these posts for a while that the expedition might be the jacket to end all jackets in the search for the perfect jacket. But i wanted to hear some thoughts on the subject.

G&B is the best. I've never heard a complaint about it. Heck, my very first post here was an inquiry on just HOW durable the G&B is. All I got was "G&B is the most durable SA Indy Jacket on the market," which I already knew. Perhaps somebody who HAS a G&B could give better information. Hey... Ken has owned both a Wested AND a G&B, though never a Goatskin G&B. He might have some input. Steven

G&B Expedition is a great jacket from all that I've heard. I haven't heard anything bad about them either. Even Harrison Ford has an Expedition. But U.S. Wings makes some fantastic jackets too. The Legend Striated Lamb looks very tough. Wested and Todd makes great jackets as well. Although I would suggest G&B and US Wings for a jacket that will last a very long time.

I had an Expedition from G&B. Quality was great. However, I did not like the way it fit.
I normally wear a 40. My US Wings is an M, and fits perfectly.
The Expedition was a size 42 R, so shoulders were wider than I liked, and the shoulder seams drooped off the edges of my own shoulders. Oddly, sleeve length was still perfect. Apparently, Expeditions have slightly wider shoulders and shorter sleeves....the "droop" is intentional for the purposes of screen accuracy. See the photos in my thread "New Expedition".
This may be a screen accurate look, but I still don't like it. So, I sold it to someone who was looking for a 42 R. However, if you don't mind the slight "droop", you will be very happy.
I liked the materials and workmanship of the Expedition very much. And I've received sizing dimensions from G&B for other sizes, so am looking for some combination of slightly narrower shoulders and slightly longer sleeves to give me the fit that I want.
I might have to go with custom sizing, but IMHO, it would be worth it.
The US Wings Legend jackets look very good, but aren't available yet in goatskin, although their Signature Series is.
Not sure whether a Wested is up to having "the living crap" beat out of it...will let someone who owns a Wested respond.

Either Jacket should work fine. I prefer the G&B over the Wested but that is just my personal preference. I have had more than one of each and every one of them was well made.
As far as "Beating the crap out of them" if you are going to be engaging in activities that will rip your jacket apart, I'd be more worried about my own hide. ;D Kidding.
My G&B has seen all types of weather and has held up great for 4 years.
That being said there are lots of threads with info and pictures that may help you in your search.
Cheers, John

All of my T-Shirts have that droop! ;D I'm fine with it. Also, I've heard stories about people's Westeds popping their seams after a few years of normal wear. On the other hand, the only two times I've ever heard of a G&B having a similar situation was one with a sticky name tag peeling fibers off the leather, and another where it was completely destroyed via exposure to a violent dog. What about wested's custom mades, is the quality as good as UsWings or G&B? I have heard postings of loose seams, etc.
