Wow, do I love this thing! You guys are right about what you've said here. Why is it that no one can copy this shirt correctly? This is probably my most favorite piece of gear! Hat. Jacket. Cool, but you have to work to get those to look right. The NH just IS! It's the one piece of gear that has always looked exactly like it's supposed to! Just to add to the rave reviews you all have given it already, if anyone asks which shirt is the best....(for a Raiders shirt?) Noel Howard. "What about between a Wested and a Magnoli?" "The Noel Howard." What is the phenomenon with this shirt? I know it's been described as costumey, but it really feels about the same as the Old Navy close-enough and even the Wested. But man if it's not the Indy shirt! (I know it's been said all over the place, and it's true.) I love this shirt! (Here, I took a picture of my backyard and then photoshopped myself into it. )

Great shot Tone! That new camera is treating you well, and I couldn't agree with you more about the Noel Howard shirt. Nice job Photoshopping yourself into your own backyard, BTW. I would have just done it the lazy way, and taken the shot "In" my backyard. Leave it to you to kick it up a notch! Ken

Well, I didn't want it to look fake. I'm going to take a picture of my car and then photoshop myself in the driver's seat, too! It's brilliant! ;D

I want a NOEL HOWARD shirt too:(
EDit:
I Read alot that the N H shirt isnt very durable and its more of a costume shirt , very thin so that is why iam thinking on going with a magnoli or wested...

Get ready for a shameless plug, and I don't even own one of Noel Howard's shirts.
Honestly, I think if you don't get the Noel Howard shirt, you'll always wonder if you'd like it more than whatever other shirt you got, and eventually end up getting the NH shirt anyway.
The NH shirt looks expensive at first glance (at least it does to me) but if you factor in all the other shirts you won't have to buy trying to find the perfect Indy shirt you really do come out ahead.
I think the NH shirt gets a bum rap about being thin and flimsy because so many people are used to those heavy-ass safari shirts like the Cabela's. For as many times as I've read about how thin and "costume-y" those shirts are I've NEVER read about someone actually damaging one of those shirts. I have one of the Old Navy shirts, which I've heard is a similar weight as the NH and sure, that IS some thin material, but I wear it all the time because it's comfortable and I've yet to have ANY problems with it.
I think if you want ONE Indy shirt, why not get one made by THE guy that made them FOR Indy. I doubt Noel will be making them forever, so when they're gone, they're gone.

Here's the low down on the NH. The material is just as heavy as the material in the dress shirt I'm curently wearing. Its comparable to the weight of my Old Navy, L.L. Bean, Banana Republic, and Filson Feather Cloth shirts. Both the Banana Republic and L.L. Bean shirts are older than me (I'm 21) and their still going strong. Its true that the seam are single stitched instead of double, but so were many of our comabt uniforms in WWII. What I'm getting at is that the shirt won't disintegrate after a bit of use. Last, but not least, it is "The" shirt.

Winstonwolf, I believe you nailed it and I couldn't agree with you more. It's a better shirt than others in that very sense of being comfortable in the heat. The Old Navy is comfy in hot weather. The Wested is pretty good in hot weather also; but the NH is not only very comfy in hot weather, it also looks the part like no other. (It is costumey in the sense that it does look exactly like the Indiana Jones' shirt. There is no mistaking that the shirt looks like a piece of the costume.) *And I haven't read where anyone's torn theirs up or had it fall apart on them either. As for buying other shirts and always wondering what the NH looks and feels like in comparison, I agree there, too. (Not that close enoughs aren't bad - and it is nice to be able to go out and do stuff without looking exactly like Indy - but that's where the NH is different, because it is unmistakably the shirt from the film. Color: What is up with this pink or too tan hue coming up all the time? The shirt color looks like the spitting image of the film's (in person and in pictures.) I've read where a few people have gotten their NHs and then re-dyed them to be more screen accurate! What?! This is the one piece of gear that comes the way it's supposed to from the start. I wish they were slightly less expensive because I'd love to have a few of these to wear. It is my favorite of all the "gear/safari"shirts. (I didn't say it was the most indestructible; but for blazing sunny hot days - it's awesome!) But then again, that's only my opinion from Arizona. Maybe once somebody wears it in really hot weather we'll have a better idea of how it holds up and performs. By the way, it's the same principle as the two jacket syndrome. People will always wonder what the authentic lambskin looks like. At the same time, they'll always wonder how the other leathers feel if they already have the lambskin. Two jackets. Minimum. I know RB got it, but you all do realize I didn't actually photoshop myself into my own backyard up there. Right?

Hey raging blues, are you planning on dying the shirt or is the color satisfying to you?

I cannot answer for Ken but I think the NH shirt is PERFECT just as it is.
Cheers, G-MANN

It may be thin but folks really shouldn't worry about the shirt falling apart. I've had mine for four years, washed it heaps and it still looks like I just bought it. I have another new set of NH shirt and pants on the way. Woot! ...just because.

I wouldn't redye that shirt to save my life. Anyone who thinks NH shirts need to be re-dyed is a real fool. It literally is Indy's "actual" shirt design, material, and color! Ken

Right there with ya! Like Agent 5, I have refused to ever dye my Howard shirt because it's spot on. If it isn't obvious in Raiders it's definitely obvious in Temple and Crusade!

Go look at the second screen cap in the "Todd's Jacket" thread. I wouldn't touch the color on that NH shirt either. It's obvious from that shot the shirt IS the right color. Why it looks almost white in the Cairo scenes probably has to do with the lighting and the sun.
