Nice find Ken! It sounds like they might be a bit to dressy though.

Also, for those interested in a pair of wool pants in what looks like a great Raider's color.... there is one pair of these left: mens-apparel.smartbargains.com/go.sb?s=CS&deptId=10&catId=88&prodId=1010242199&fd=true&fcloc=search&sp=All+Products%2f%2f%2f%2fMen's+Apparel%7c%7c%7c%7c%7c%2f%2f%2f%2f+++++++Pants+%26+Shorts%2f%2f%2f%2fAttribSelect%3dType%3d'Dress+Pants'%2f%2f%2f%2fAttribSelect%3dPrice+Range%3d'Under+%2450'&pagename=prod (Sorry the long link won't past properly, but you can copy and paste it into a new browswer window) I can't tell if they have pocket flaps or not, but they are wool, the color looks great, and the price is certainly right at only $22.97! Too dressy? Indy was a finely dressed, scholarly fellow that never got dirty, wasn't he? Ken

Are the regular Taupe LL Bean's $60 or are they on sale? Those are nice pants and if they are $60 I'm going to have to pass for right now on them. Wouldn't the wool ones end up being to warm to wear in the summer? The price is great though.

And J_Weaver, what's this "too dressy" crap? The costume pants are wool for crying out loud!

Alright. That's it! ;D Next time that happens you can hit the back button on your browser until you get to the regular post with the words all there. Basically, I was saying thanks to RB for keeping an eye out on deals like this, but that I'd rather wait for the Cotton Twill Dress Chinos in Taupe. The Sepia Twills and the Dark Khaki are very comfortable. LOCKED! ;D Oh, here's a version of "Snakes on a Plane" I'm sure we'd all like to see.

I'm sure the wool ones are a bit too warm for my tastes, but since they only had one pair, and the price was quite nice (hey, that rhymed!), I thought I would throw them in as well. You never know who is looking for something like that.... Also, don't feel bad fellas.... very early on, I tried to respond to one of Pitfall's threads and wound up hitting the modify button instead, and posted my response "inside" his thread! It's easy to confuse reply with modify, based on their placement.... atleast for me anyway. Ken

;D Locked! Man he must be mad! Edit - After posting this, Tone re-added another hilarious gif animation! ;D you're killing me man! I like the smile at the end too. No problem, I was looking for legit Indy close-enoughs with a few free moments this afternoon at work. I don't need more myself, but wanted to keep any eye open for the best deals anyway. When I saw the LL Bean pair in Taupe, I couldn't help posting it. Even though the fabric is different, it might better resemble wool in person (I have no idea), but be cooler and less itchy! I imagine it being more dressy myself, but that might work for the corporate Indy look. Ken

EDIT: Heh. Glad you like that one, guys. I believe that was all but ignored over "yon" elsewhere. ::sigh:: Oh, it did get a "Someone's got too much time on their hands," again.
"Why do I hang out over here?" The people are great and it doesn't feel like a waste of time. So thanks, guys!
Actually, polyester lays very wool-like. Problem is it doesn't take much to get that static, stick to the legs syndrome, then it just looks kind of frumpy. And if they're not ironed and kept pristing right from the dryer, they don't look very good at all. I'm talking about a couple pair of polyester Wranglers I had. (I'd mentioned this in the previous post, btw, before ::ahem:: the 'incident'. ;D)

Woohoo, my first post here, courtesy of raging blues! Ok, I got the llbean wool year-round in plain front taupe: cdn.llbean.com/products/mens/32927/images/L32927_Taupe.jpgThe problem is, the inseams are waaaay longer than usual. I usually wear a 30 inseam, but the pants were at least 2 inches too long! They did measure about a 31, but I suspect the fairly long rise to be part of the problem as well. Solution? Get them unhemmed! Then take them to the tailors and get the military hem and 3-4" upturn. Also, the waist feels slightly bigger than usual, so keep that in mind if you're in between sizes. Regarding color - the web picture is spot on, at least on my monitor. Feel? Not scratchy at all. Merino wool is pretty smooth. Doesn't have nap. One could probably mistake it for a polyester blend. Fabric is pretty thin and airy - I don't think the pants would be a problem, even in summer; instead, winter in the east coast might be the problem. They do feel sort of like an orphaned pair of suit pants, kind of like the pair that's hanging in your closet (or your dad's), and you can't find the suit jacket that came with it. Not the highest quality pair of trousers. But for 60 bucks, I don't know, high quality wool pants are very tough to find at that price. Overall, pretty fair deal, color doesn't look exactly like officer's pinks but it goes well with the indy shirts, it's a smooth and lightweight wool - just make sure you get them unhemmed! (10 bucks to get them altered the indy way is better than shipping it back and forward and getting them with a standard hem).

I've thought about purchasing a pair of LL Bean pants a while ago and I wasn't sure if these would right for me. I kind of prefer the thicker Kaki pants material of my Oak Creek pants. Do you get the impression that these pants might hold up when out on an "adventure" so to speak? If you get a chance you'll have to post some pics of you wearing them. I think that might give people a better idea of what they would look like in person.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Here are some pictures: Fabric weave: Shirt is NH, for color reference. In picture one, the thighs might look a little wide due to the waist being larger than expected, and being flat-front. One could see why getting unfinished hems is a good idea. That's all!

Thanks for posting pics of those. Personally I don't know if I would wear them or not. I like a little bit thicker material in my pants and I'm afraid those might not hold up. Still......I'll keep them in mind if and when I go to get another pair of Indy pants.

You lost me.... you're mailing your pants somewhere? Is this a multi-level marketing or chain letter sort of thing? Ken
