I've always hated lace up boots which is why I don't have any Aldens or close enoughs. I just prefer traditional slip on shaft boots. I wear them with my gear and everyday. I was wondering if anyone else has chosen a non-Alden type boot to wear with their gear. My favorites are the Justin Stockman in distressed Apache brown for everyday wear and for really rough use Frye's brown engineer boots. They both look good with the gear especially with some darkening polish.

I've got a couple different pair of boots I wear with my gear. I love my Aldens and wear them all the time, but when I hit the trail they usually stay home. Back home where the mountians are steep and rugged I wear a pair of Alico mountaineering boots. They're heavy and stiff but when the going get rough there isn't another pair of boots I'd rather have. You can see them in this pic: smg.photobucket.com/albums/v320/J_Weaver/IndyGear/?action=view¤t=TR_2.jpgDuring the summer months while the snakes are out I have a pair of pull on snake boots from Russell Maccasin Co. I honestly don't like to head into the wood in warm waether with out them. In the heavy underbrush in my neck of the woods you usually can't see a snake until your right on top of him. Heck, I walked right by a 5' Rattler two summer ago. last year I stepped over a Copperhead without knowing it. Needless to say I can walk a bit easier when I've got these boots on. www.russellmoccasin.com/boots_snakeproof/snakeproof_featherweight.htmlI also like a pull on boot. A steel toe cowboy boot is my perfered work boot. My only problem with pull on boots is that because of my long narrow feet I have a hard time getting a good fit. So when it cames to a lot of walking I have to have a pair of laceups.
