Hey ya'll,
I was just wondering if any body out there has one of these SWF FX lightsabers. I'm wanting to get one for my son (the Yoda to be exact) but I don't know how durable they are. I've seen them used in alot of U-tube battles by all the aspiring movie makers. Some of them actualy have some good choreography and they hit pretty hard, but I would hate to pay a hundred plus dollars for something thats fragile.
Anyway I could use some first hand info.
Thanks, -Dusty

I have several in my collection, thuogh they are not the best versions for fan films they can be used for light training
if you go hitting things at full speed then they will eventually split, as the plastic blade is a hollow tube. there are two holes at the base of the blades with metal pegs holding them in place and that is a weak point, about 2 to 3 inches inside the hilt
if you are planning on filming any kind of duelling or fanfilm then there are alternatives that are built for stage combat, but usually cost twice as much as the MR models commonly avaliable
I actually dismantled some of mine for cosplaying and combat training, and aquired some solid polymer blades for duelling which are removable, so I dont use the intact ones for duelling anymore, in case they do break
if in doubt, you could practise pulling blows?

I got a few of those myself, but they are made for collecting and displaying, not for dueling. Mine are all intact since they are part of my collection, but I have seen fan films using those blades for dueling and most of the time some of the led lights in the tube break and they end-up with some parts of the blade unlit. I saw other dueling videos using FX lightsabers that ended-up intact but they were visibly using a choreography with restrained movements to avoid hitting the blades too hard.
