An ultimate goal of mine is to have an indy jacket, custom made from Wested. My ideal jacket is made of horsehide, raiders body, with Last crusade collar, rectangular sliders and brass snaps on the storm flap. But what I want to know is about the weight of the horsehide, i know it's a tough leather, but does it weigh the same as cowhide, lighter, heavier? I am very curious about this. Love to know what others think about the hide and any suggestions would be cool.

I have a standard horsehide from Wested and think it's actually just a bit lighter than cowhide. That has also been my experience with motorcycle jackets from other makers in horse hide. Generally speaking, horse hide is thinner but denser than cow hide. Wested's horsehides are by far the softest and most flexible I've ever owned. If horse is an option, then it's the only option.

It can take 3 months sometimes if it is a busy time. But I've also heard of one or 2 weeks.
I think it is probably low season now, getting too warm for a leather jacket, before staff go on holiday and before the halloween rush.
Prepare yourself for a long wait and if it is not it'll be a nice surprise.
Remember it is made to order if it is horse. And for comparison other makers like Aero have a 6-9 month delay these days.
