I'm new but I've read thru this site a lot. Many photos in older posts on this subject are gone so... I have a Todd's standard Indy Jacket and I love the cut and fit. It is very light, however. Can someone with experience compare the Wested lite jacket to the Todd's with regard to overall weight? Are they about the same, or is Wested heavier? Is the leather thickness much different? By Wested lite, I mean they advertise one that is "sturdier and street wise" and one that is 'film jacket' although equally wearable is more lightweight. Todd's vs. Wested Original Film ROTS. What say YOU? Both manufacturers are terrible about the photos on their sites, so any photo examples would really be appreciated!

And another thought...How is the Todd's Custom. $500 is a LOT of green. Anyone care to share about that and how it relates to Wested...that would be great, and right in line with this topic

I have only owned the Wested ROTLA in goat skin (not washed goat). I love it, the drape, look, and feel of the jacket. The thickness for me is perfect, I've been wearing it all winter long here in Maine, and has kept me warm with a sweater underneath. The only time I don't see my self wearing it is in the summer. I do believe that Todd's makes the thinnest jacket out there. Here are some pics of my Special Offer Raiders ROLA Soft Goatskin if that helps you: -Scott

Wested lambskin is your best bet. It's light, sturdy, accurate, and overall one of the best jackets you can get for that price. I love my ROTLA special offer lamb. I have worn it almost everyday this winter. I also have a Wested Last Crusade goat. It doesn't fit me quite as well as the Raiders, but it is definitely heavier/thicker. It have a great color, but looks pristine. The ROTLA OTR special offer lamb has a great pre-aged look to it. I, obviously, am biased towards Wested. I don't own a Todd's jacket either. If you are wanting to shell out $500 for a custom Todd's jacket, you'd be MUCH better off getting this: www.wested.com/raiders-jacket-157-p.aspIf you are looking for a nice weight, sturdy, accurate Indiana Jones jacket, go with Wested. -Josh

I was taken in by all the talk of the Todd Std. I bought one... sold it off again fairly rapidly. Made quite a loss.

I was hoping the master of Wested Leather would chime in. I think excalibur just got his answer. -Josh

Hey Kt, what did you not like about your Todd's Standard? I just ordered one, should have it by Fri. I live in Florida and wanted a jacket I could wear all year long. I plan on getting a G&B one day. I am hoping I didn't just waste $150.

Not wanting to be too down on it. I wasn't keen on the fit of the jacket on me. The leather was very thin.
The pic really tells it I think.
It's not bad for $150. For that price it's about right.

I really appreciate everyones great input! It really helps. Still, the thing that makes me nervous is where Wested says: (on the ROLA Special Offer)
"Unlike the Standard raiders which has slight modification to make it durable and street wearable this 'film jacket' although equally wearable is more lightweight."
So, what I think I'm getting here is that this Wested is in fact heavier than the Todd's, which means that it should actually be fine as a normal wear jacket, right? Am I being too paranoid, lol
I want this to feel like a real jacket, lol Man, I wish I could just pop in the store and try one on, lol

East TN...we are practically neighbors. I'm in East VA. Your praise of the ROTLA Special Lamb is noted! I'm leaning that way hard at the moment. It's this whole in-between jobs thing that is putting on the breaks. Gotta love the economy.
