Title say it all really. Just some pics of whips. The David Morgan is the first Morgan I ever owned which I sold two years ago and recently bought back. Of all the Morgan's I've owned this one is the best. My MOrgan and my Joe Strain A whip salad! My Morgan and Strain along with Indy Breineder's Stenhouse and the last two whips he made

Those are all beautiful I just received the latest Morgan catalouge $775.00 for a 10 footer is just too expensive for a part time whip user such as myself. I'll just stick with my Pagey and 2 Joe Strain's Cheers, G-MANN

Yeah that's a lot of money!! I was lucky to have this one return home at a very reasonable price - and I managed to dodge Mr. Taxman too ;D What I especially like about this Morgan is that the strands are not cut as wide as he's been doing them lately - in fact they're neaqrly the same as on my Strain although Morgan ends with a heavier point. Compare these pics. My new/old Morgan on the left, the Morgan I got last summer on the right. Notice the difference in the strand widths and braiding. The one on the right felt more like a mexican 8plait!

Pagey, that's a very impressive whip collection. Do you have any idea why Morgan changed his style and seems to be cutting the strands wider on the whips he's making now? I know the Morgan's are basically the "Holy Grail" of whips but I personally can't see paying that much for a whip. If I'm going into that price range I'd rather spend it on a gun. Of course if I could get a deal on a good second hand version I'd buy it if I had the cash.

Those aren't all mine Harry - although I'd like to build up my own collection. Morgan deliberately cuts his strands very wide to make them stand up to more abuse. That's a fair enough point, but if the strands are TOO wide (as they were on the whip above) they no longer fit the core and you end up with a thong that feels spongy rather than solid. Morgan believes that doesn't actually matter - and he's probably right - but it looks and feels horrible.
New Morgans are far too expensive, but I've seen them go for 400 on ebay. In fact I once picked one up for 360! You just have to keep your eyes open. The Morgan I just bought back, I got for 410 - which is not so much more than a Strain. Of course it's all about prioities, and what you're prepared to spend your money on.
