when ROtLA came out an Indy jacket that was SA was my dream, now three movies later it doesn't seem so important to me,with so many cool jackets spread across the four films (and all of the variations within each ) i'm really now looking for something that represents all of them to some degree while not losing the essence of the style. so any thoughts as to what features make THE Indy jacket?

This is an interesting question. The Indy jackets from the 4 films were all so incredibly similar that picking minor details or features from each one to include on a "universal" Indy style jacket might be difficult. The color and general pattern are what really make it "Indy" for me, so minor details like strap hardware (brass D-rings vs. black metal loops or sliders) or zipper color or whether the storm-flap has snaps don't make a huge difference if you're trying to capture the general Indy style.

good colour match is a major point for me GCR, i think it goes a long way in the lasting appeal of the jacket, for me at any rate.

Color-wise, anything in the medium to deep dark brown range pretty much works. The jacket color varies quite a bit within each film from scene to scene, depending on the lighting and the level of distressing. Anything lighter than a medium, chocolatey brown would probably look way too light for an Indy jacket.
