At one point, I think my closet held more jackets than shirts so I did some radical house cleaning and attempted to simplify things. Now I have:
1 Wested lamb - had this one for years and use it for everything with no care, it's now beautifully and naturally distressed but still holding up very well.
1 Wested Horse - This is my 'dress jacket' for those occasions when the run over by a truck look just isn't appropriate.
1 Gibson & Barnes Civilian G1 in cowhide- This is my cold weather jacket. It's very similar to an Indy jacket but with a wool collar and knit waistband and cuffs to keep the cold out.
I'd like to draw the line there but I've been considering getting one of Wested's Wolverine jackets for motorcycling this summer - just maybe without the stripes.

What I'm going to say will probably surprise a few people.... Don't, it's not a biker jacket, just as I would never wear an indy jacket as a bike jacket, I wouldn't use the Wested Wolvrine as one, it just doesn't have the reinforcement armour for it.

That's very true KT and a point well worth making. Anyone seeking a serious motorcycle jacket should look to a jacket maker that specializes in such things. Here in the states, motorcyclists have widely varying views on safety, comfort and risk. We have many who dress head to toe in competition gear and won't even leave their driveway without full armor and we have many who chose to ride hundreds of miles in a T shirt and no helmet. I guess I fall in between. I want to be comfortable and reasonably protected. I try to use common sense but don't go overboard with safety concerns. It is a motorcycle afterall and not a Volvo wagon. I always wear a helmet, gloves, and a close fitting light Vanson mesh jacket with armor that fits more like a shirt. I can wear it under any of my regular jackets thus converting them into an acceptable motorcycle jacket. It gives me a decent level of protection while allowing me to be stealthy with my armor and thus avoiding the Power Ranger Crotchrocketeer look that I'm just not into. Also, if anyone punches me in the stomach, they'll be really surprised at how rock hard my abs feel.
