WOO-FREAKIN'-HOO!!!! I know you and I had discussed the possibility of you doing a custom rabbit, but this news is music to my ears! As I slowly begin to rebuild my "gear budget", you can bet I'll be in for one of these later on this year. (I've still got a gray ABD I need to re-order first... ) I have long been a fan of the rabbit felt and raiders block combination, and to this day I regret selling my old rabbit AB. While I am (and always will be) an advocate of "real world durability" (and thus a fan of beaver felt for general use), I cannot deny that rabbit does possess some advantages if you're trying to duplicate the films hats in exacting detail. It may not be as sturdy and it may not last as long, but it can really nail the look the way no other felt can, at least for a little while. Anyways, kudos to you, Oak, for stepping up to the plate and offering a rabbit felt option in the custom hat world. Together with your quality workmanship, excellent block and ribbon, it's sure to be one of the best custom rabbit options around!

I just blocked a rabbit hat on one of my test blocks ( a block that I'm always tweaking). This way it wont take anyone slot for me to test a felt or whatever I want to try out. I will keep everyone posted right here.

I pounced the rabbit test hat. I'm making this one a "marlo." My test block or should I say one of my test blocks ( I have 3 going right now). This one is a round oval block in my size. All my test hats are in my size. It's the only way I can get a hat from myself. The pounce job came out great. I'm very happy with it. Part of the problem was how much time I had to pounce rabbit felt to get it to the point that I was happy. It's sitting and drying from the new water protections that I'm using. After that I can post some pics of it but it won't have any parts sewn in or bashed. I can't put one of my pure beaver sweatbands in a rabbit hat :-k . I will be waiting for my new sweatbands before I finish this hat. As for price. I'm not going to state a price just right now because I won't to post a price with some photo's of the hat to go with it. It will be less than what I'm asking for my pure beaver hats.

It will take me some time to finish this one off. I don't want to put a beaver labeled sweatband into a rabbit body. I will have to wait for my order to be place for sweatband with the label pure rabbit to get to me.

As soon as I get the new sweatband I will put it all together and post pics. It's just a matter of waiting in line with my sweatband guy. The Penman rabbit offering will happen. I just don't want to state a price without at least 1 photo to go with it.

Just got off the phone with my sweatband guy and the sweatbands should be shipping in a couple of days. I have the price all worked out but will wait until I have 1 rabbit hat complete to post pics with it.
I'll keep you posted.

Well, it's not exactly what I was expecting, but it's still one hell of a beautiful hat!!! That bound edge is awesome, and the crease style for the crown is pretty sweet, too. Any chance of seeing one of these new rabbit hats done up in a regular Raiders style? Does the rabbit felt react any different to the Raiders style blockshape? Great work on this one once again, Oak! I'm looking forward to hearing the finalized price for one of these! I knew you would be the one saying this. ;D The felt reacts slightly different. hard to show on pics with a different style of hat. I'm have a new block in the works to be a lot more SA and when the first hat comes off the block I will be posting.
