Hello all, I'm new to this site, this is my first post. I recently was alerted to this weapon for sale in a local junk shop. A Colt .45 cal, 1917 revolver. As can be seen the finish is all but gone, but the metal is in great shape, no rust or pitting. The barrel has plenty of rifling left. The wood grips are really in good shape. The hammer is however missing. I'm sure there's a place on line to buy one. Any of you know any good parts sites? I picked this up for $125.00

Oh I'll get a firing pin, no problem. I may have to wait til the HUGE Wanamaker Gun Show in Tulsa in November, but I'll get one. I've a friend who has a S&W, we've fired it and it is indeed a nice weapon. I remain dedicated however to my trusty ole M-1911A1.

ahhh a very nice weapon indeed. I wish the military would go back to that haha I hate the M9. If i had to use it I would want the M1911, but I like wearing the M1917 haha

Yeah ... the M-9 is a POS. I've no love for the 9mm round at all. When I shoot a man I want him dead, not just mad at me! Most of my 20+ year in the Army I carried an M-1911A1. With new parts it's a great hand gun!

Numrich is indeed a great place to buy parts. It's too bad that they are sold out. Have you tried Colt? I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, but it's worth a try. Other than that just keep networking around. Find out if that part was used in any other guns and cross reference it that way. You'll find it eventually.
Nice gun BTW. Good price on it, assuming you can get it to work.

I want to thank everyone who posted ideas. I have managed to procure the necessary parts. Now for some ammo and I'm off to the range!
