I'm not sure if this has ever been talked about before but I recently spotted in several scenes, stills, and pictures - an area on one of Indy's outer pockets that has apparently come unstitched. Here are a couple of pictures I've saved.. and I found more on the DVD, for instance in the Raiven Bar sceens - but I can't figure out why I can no longer save screen caps. I'm now using Windows Media Payer, anybody have a suggestion to help with that ? If so, I'll post more pictures. In the first pic you can see Indy's glove poking out the side of the glove, the side opposite the hand warmer entry. The second picture is more obvious: Again, I have more in other areas if I can get the screen cap thing figured. Doug C

Yep, I noticed that quite a while back when I was doing Screen Caps for the Raiders Jacket thread. Your second picture is identical to the one I posted in that thread.

Oh BTW, you'll notice that in the pic of Indy & Marion the image is reversed... before anyone says that they are different [opposite] pockets ; )

John, we must of been typing at the same time, while I went back and edited my post to add the same picture. I too noticed it long ago on the picture that WE posted but I never noticed it on any other shots. But it certainly shows that this jacket was used in several if not most sceens in Raiders. Personally, I believe Ford basically used one jacket.
btw, i used your screen cap... thanks

Wow, you're right that certainly looks the part. It has a certain amount of it's top layer clear still on it which I think is key. These "washed" hides we're seeing now are missing that...and if you watch raiders and pay attention, you can notice that Indy's jacket has quite a bit of it.

You know, everyone is always going on about how Indy's jacket it close fitting and tapered... and I myself have gone for that look too in past jacket aquisitions. But if you look really good at the picture I posted at the top, of Indy and Marion, you notice that it's not. In fact I'd say that it's actually a wide jacket rather than tapered, short and wide really. Also the collar on that jacket is longer around the neck than any of todays Indy reproductions, a long collar like this can be found in some of the contracted WWII A2's.

Personally, I get tired of how many times I hear the jacket is tight fitting. I've never thought that and have no idea where it comes from. That's not to say the jacket is baggy in any of the first three movies (one could argue the CS jacket is slightly oversized, but I think it looks great given Ford isn't a young Indy anymore) but it isn't skin-tight like some people argue.
For personal wear I want something to fit well; not so big I swim in it but not so tight I feel constricted when I zip it.
One other thing people seem to always get wrong is the length. These are pretty short-waisted jackets and I don't think it's something people who haven't worn something like an A2 are used to at first.

Well, I think some of the loose width (in the shoulders, chest and bottom) of the jacket adds to the length when the jacket is un-zipped. I mean I agree that it's fairly short but it just looks way wrong to me when I see someone post pictures of a jacket that is both snug and short, while the same jacket would look better with some width in the shoulders and chest, even across the bottom actually - notice the fit when Indy's jacket is zipped in the bar fight sceen, it's not tight at all but is rather loose and short. I believe the same jacket is used throughout the film and it appears longer in alot of sceens when worn unzipped. Just my latest opinion ; )
