Hello, I was just wondering whether anyone knows the cheapest Indy looking jacket you can buy? (No matter what country)

I have no idea what the rock bottom, absolute cheapest Indy "looking" jacket is, but I will say that the jacket from Todd's Costumes sure seems to be a steal at $150. It's easily the cheapest option as far as "screen-accuracy" is concerned, as it nails a good portion of the SA details right out of the box. I have heard that it's very thin leather, so if you're looking for a hard-wearing, rough and tumble adventure jacket, you might want to look elsewhere. However, if you're just looking for a causual, lightweight leather jacket or something to use as part of a costume or display, then I'd go for the Todd's.

Thanks for your reply GCR, do you know what the next best thing is then with thicker leather?

I don't have all the prices memorized, but the next "cheapest" (in terms of price not quality) would be one of the Wested "special offer" jackets. I believe they are all thicker than the Todd jacket, but they are still not "thick" as far as I know. However, for the money, if you're looking for something that has a bit of toughness to it, then I'd suggest the Wested Washed Goat ROLA (I think that's what it's called). Goat tends to be a pretty tough and durable hide, more so than lamb, even when it's thinner. What style of Indy jacket are you looking for, anyways? (Raiders, Last Crusade, Crystal Skull?)

Hey, i'm not hugely fussed, but preferably a Raiders looking jacket would be good. Do you know how much shipping would be to the UK (where i live) from Todd's costumes?

Yeah, just ask Todd but this is what I found on his site regarding international shipping:
We usually ship United States International Priority Mail, since their rates are a fraction of UPS or FedEx's rates. Packages usually arrive in one to two weeks. Expedited shipping is available but very expensive. A package sent 3 day to Europe can easily cost several hundred dollars to ship. Overnight international shipping is not possible.
In addition, all packages, no matter who the carrier is, are subject to inspection by your country's customs agency. They can delay the release of a package indefinitely, at their discretion. Neither we nor the carrier has any control over your government's Customs agency. Please be aware of your country's customs policies.
We do not know the import regulations of every country. It is your responsibility to know your country's laws concerning the legality of the items you wish to import. This is especially relevant in regard to replica weapons and certain animal products (leather). We assume no responsibility if items you order are confiscated by your country's customs authorities.
We ship international packages every day, and so far we have had very, very few problems with customs or lost packages.

Thanks guys for all your help. Much appreciated! One last question, you said the Todds jacket was thin leather but would you say it's passable enough to keep the wearer warm?

Thanks guys for all your help. Much appreciated! One last question, you said the Todds jacket was thin leather but would you say it's passable enough to keep the wearer warm? That I couldn't tell you. I'm basing all of my advice on the reviews and opinions of others who've owned a jacket from Todd. The fact that the jacket is very thin and light has been pointed out by just about everybody who's owned one and posted a review. Honestly, if you live in a place where the weather can dip below freezing from time to time in the winters, an un-insulated leather jacket is probably not the best option. Still, many folks who own other Indy jackets, like Wested, U.S. Wings or G&B, have gotten by in colder weather by wearing a thick sweatshirt or sweater (jumper to you UK folks, right?) underneath the jacket. I would tend to think you could do this with the Todd jacket as well, in more mild weather, and it would work out OK.

If you are in London, you really should go and check out Wested Leather. They are in Swanley, Kent. Junction 3, M25 or easy access by train.
You will have LOADS of jackets to choose from. Many different types of leather, some are made in the UK and some overseas, so if that is important to you just ask. Although, it is easy to spot the UK ones, they have a Union Jack patch sewn inside just under the inside pocket!
Beware, many people end up coming out of there with more than one jacket!

The Todd's is a fairly thin goatskin leather that drapes very well, and is pretty darned SA, and would be best used as an above average windbreaker. Mine has been scuffed up a bit in an abandoned gold mine, but I make no promises as to the durability of one from Todd's that you might get.
Wested seems to be a fairly sturdy jacket, judging by comments on here, and that will be my next aquisition. Hope that helps,
