I just got Todd's holster (I see ideas on how to distress that) but I was wondering about the belt & whip holder. What kind of shoe polish should I use? Should I use alcohol, sand paper, etc? Thanks for your input,

In my experience, you should lightly sand the existing finish off with a very fine grain paper. This will prepare the surface for new color, while not damaging it with something course. Shoe polish will rub off and Pecard's brown has too much red in it for either to be useful here. I would suggest getting a brown/dark brown (insert your taste here) leather stain to re-finish the surfaces with. You can also buy stains/dye with a sealer built into it. If the sealer is too shiney, it can be rubbed down with a little alchohol later to dull it down. If you want to really weather the look of the leather, you can wad it up as much as possible, and break down the leather by working it with your hands. This will soften things up and add some tiny wrinkes, variations, and stretch marks. Finally, soak it in water, then dry it with heat (blow dryer, etc...) with your gun in it to shape it. This will really give the leather some character and well worn look, and can be done before or after you re-stain it (or both!). These are just a few methods I've either used or read about other's doing, so hopefully they will help. Let us see some pics of before and after you do something to it, if you like. Ken

Thanks but I don't have a gun. I actually was thinking of getting your gun with holster and gun belt but missed out on it. I also thought I already have the holster & gun belt so no need to get duplicates but $40 for all 3 seemed like a steal. Also I wondered where do people wear the gun that its not a problem/legal issue . Thanks again! In my experience, you should lightly sand the existing finish off with a very fine grain paper.
