George Lucas to Turn Star Wars Saga into 3D
ComingSoon.net caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Tuesday and learned that George Lucas is looking to repurpose the six "Star Wars" episodes into 3D format.
Katzenberg told us that Lucas is very excited about it and that he's got the technical resources to pull it off. "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate," Katzenberg said.

Won't put out a product that isn't first rate? There are just too many things I can point to that will crush that statement.

I have no desire at all to see this. George needs to find new inspiration. He's killed Star Wars.

No, I think he's about to prove that he hasn't killed it. He might, though. The "remastered" editions sucked. except for Hayden Christenson in the last scene. I wish he'd rerelease the special editions with redone lightsaber effects, and nothing else.

except for Hayden Christenson in the last scene. I'm sorry, but Hayden Christenson was a terrible choice for Anakin in ever way except for appearance. The only thing I hated about ROTJ was replacing Sebastian Shaw's head with that crapty actor. And they did redo the lightsaber effects for the 2004 DVD set. It didn't look much better, though. -Josh

Darth Vader was an older man when he came back to the light before he died. Why can't Lucas go and eff up some of his other masterpieces like American Graffiti and Howard the Duck (I think that was Lucas anyway) leave the holy trilogy alone?!

I know he redid the lightsaber effects, but I mean do it RIGHT and make them look like they did in the new movies. And I didn't mind Hayden Christenson in the third one. He wouldn't have been my choice for Anakin, but Dominic Monaghan was filming LOTR at the time.
