I believe that Ole' George would sell his own mother for $1.00. I have lost all respect for the man when he made Greedo shoot first. Then he slipped a young Anakin Skywalker in at the end of ROTJ. Then there was Jar Jar...WTF was he thinking? He cares not of the fans but only for the almighty dollar. This is America and making money is the American dream so I can't hate the man for that. But don't feed us a line of crap about how these movies are for the fans. So in short, Georgie will make as many movies about Indy as he can. He'll milk it dry. He'll do it with Mutt, Indy, who ever. But when he puts out crap, he'll continue to insist it's what the fans want. Perhaps I'll gain a little respect for him after seeing Indy 4. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and counting the days till I see it. My Dad took me to see Raiders and I was as old as my son is now, so taking him to see KOTCS is a bit sentimental. Sorry for the rant.

Sorry for the rant. Its funny that you mention the Lucas stuff. I remember hearing talk years ago that Endor was originally supposed to be the Wookie Homeworld Kashyyk instead and the Ewoks were supposed to be Wookies, but supposedly "Uncle George" had a change of heart and thought that little teddy bears would be more kid friendly. ( again, this was years ago and I could be wrong). However, I also pretty distinctly remember some interview that referenced George Lucas's change of heart after adopting his daughter (I believe) ,where he felt that Han Solo shooting first was too "cold-blooded"...so he changed it. I'm sure there are people here who know way more about this than me, so please correct me if I'm wrong or misinformed.

You are correct Sir...on all accounts. Georgie went soft, simple as that. Han Solo being cold blooded is what made him so cool. He was after all a "pirate". Just think...if Greedo did shoot first, I'm sure he would have hit Solo at such close range and Star Wars would have been much different.

Actually, he switched the idea of it being a wookie planet because he wanted a primitive race help bring down the empire troops stationed there. Since the wookies would have been an advanced civilization long before that point, he decided to stay with the fur and just make them small and teddy bear like. I personally would have created an entirely different looking species, but again.... they never ask my opinions. Ken

Spielberg's publicly on board, pending the success of Indy 4: www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=45302Media outlets caught up with Steven Spielberg at the Cannes Film Festival and got a few interesting quotes out of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull director.
Starting with Indy, Spielberg said that he would make another film, "Only if you want more." He added, "That's why we made this Indiana Jones. We'll certainly have our ear to the ground to hear what happens. That'll decide were we go from here."
We certainly don't think money will be an issue, as the movie is expected to make anywhere between $150-175 million in its first five days domestically alone. That's not counting the 61 international markets it will be released in at the same time on Thursday.Ken

Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford? I don't think so. I don't care if he is in a supporting role, its just not right in any way.

Lucas and Spielberg will do whatever they like with Indy movies. No matter how far from the tone, look, and feel of the character.... nothing is out of bounds at this point. Ken

No way. You cannot have an Indiana Jones movie with Indy as the sidekick that's just STUPID. I completely agree . "Mutt Williams and the Jumpers of the Lost Shark" It's going to be like Happy Days, but the Jukebox shoots out poisonous darts! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Ah...no amount of laughing emoticons can properly simulate how much I laughed my ass off right now... ;D Tell me about it! ;D ;D ;D

well, i just read through this entire thread and for some reason feel compelled to add input. I am from the original trilogy/raiders generation. i can totally agree with comments made by ken regarding the movie type generation gap. my own kids like the new trilogy of star wars more, simply cause it's their movies for thier generation. As much as we want to have harrison live forever in his late 30s and always be willing to pump out adventures for us to experience it just is ridiculous to think thats even possible. I think i'm one of the few people on this whole site ifnot in the whole world who actually got the movie KOTCS. i loved it and felt the indy vibe during the whole thing. indy is aging and that makes the portrayal so real for me. he isnt 40 any more...probably had retired the adventures and was happy finishing up his teaching career. the movie even mentions in it that 10 years earlier he was involved in an unknown adventure, probably his last before being kidnapped and thrown into another unexpected adventure. harrison did a great job for his age, had great memorable indy sarcastic comments and overall....well seen for what it is, a great classic ending to an aging hero. now as far as shia...i like the guy...wish they called him something other than mutt williams, as it really doesnt roll off the tounge like indiana jones, but i digress. i think a new series of movies with him in the lead would be fun, and id much rather see indy faded out than thrown away. there really is only a few ways to do it and i think using him as a mentor is a great celebration to his life on screen.
i look forward to more adventures in the indy world, no matter how it comes around, personally...remember guys its a movie..and unfortunatley they sat on a great concept too long and fans missed out on a lot of great indy adventures with harrison...but we cant expect things to last forever..it is what is is and im glad to have had one more chance seeing the indy character portrayed by the only guy who can pull it off.

Since I have only seen it once (not enough to change my ways and love it like PH ), I don't remember this part clearly. Didn't Marion tell Indy that Mutt's real name was Henry Jones III right before telling him that he was his son? If so, was he living all these years with the assumed last name of his Step Dad? I would think that even if it was Williams, he would want to change it to Jones now to match his real Dad and his Mom's new last name. So, you would be dealing with Mutt Jones if that's the case. Ken
