Greetings ~ As I was "in the real city" this past week...gathering my supplies... I went to Barnes and Nobles and was reading the series of (new) Indy books that came out and drinking some *gut-wrenching* coffee... Then, on a whim, I decided that I was going to make a Grail Diary of my own. So, I went to the writers section and looked about...and I found this "unique" journal... I loved the look of it and it cost ONLY $10! ~ So, I picked 2 up. ~ The outside is leather, the pages are already semi-aged in colour, and are bound in sections with cord. here are some piccies: What was VERY important ~ to me (anyway) ~ was that it *FIT* inside the pocket PERFECTLY! ~ Something, ~ *I think* ~ is not taken into account with the other diary's I have seen. This journal can be (adjusted) to suit anyone's need to make a Grail Diary (imo)... Its the right size, colour, the extra length of the cover can be cut away, and the leather straps can be removed and replaced with the black band as in the movie. I, for one, likes to retain (some) SA , however, change it to be more realistic. To me, this book seems to capture the "essence" of adventure, and the classic look without sacrificing the weight from the wallet. I hope that this gives some out there a different alternative for a Grail Dairy. Thanks for the read! Respects! IE

That's a really nice diary/journal. I have been looking for one of those for ages but similar ones here tend to be "handmade" artisan type ones, they charge silly money for them over here... usually in the region of $80 or so.

Cool find, IE! I've got something that's remotely similar, and sort of grail diaryesque, I guess you could say. ;D I use it when I travel to write about my experiences, take notes, keep ticket stubs in, etc. Fits nicely in my Wested pocket (but not my G&B). Very handy to have. -GCR

Awesome find IE!!!!
I could use one for writing down my fishing honey holes, GPS coordinates, barometric readings, time of day, air and water temp, wind direction, etc........ I'm a freak when it comes to bass fishing.
Can't wait to go buy my Indy inspired fishing log book tomorrow. I think I will buy 2 one for my recipes.

Greetings ~ I decided to check out Barnes & Noble (online) to see if they had what I had found at my local store... This is what I found... Here is the link to the above ---> gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Rustic-Brown-Italian-Leather-Journal-with-Tie/e/9781402811951/?cds2Pid=18722also here is the link to the other varius Journal offerings ----> gifts.barnesandnoble.com/home-office/collection.asp?PID=18722&cds2Pid=17445&linkid=998633 You may want to go to the store itself and see if its cheaper (or on sale) , and available in a different *shade* of brown leather, style, and considering that its Mum day here... it maybe even more cheaper. Try to see of you can find the one similar to the one I found ~ ~ *It* may be available. If you want to make a Grail Dairy/Journal, don't care too much about SA, and want to create something that different, yet retains the "essence" of a used Grail Diary/Journal.. Remember! *YOU* are only limited by your own creativity and what *YOU* consider to be a perfect journal/Grail Dairy representation. I think this is a great alternative (imo) .. I hope that this helps... ~ someone. Respects ~ IE

I did the exact same thing when I was over at Barnes and Noble. I was looking at the Indy books and decided to go over and look at all of the leather journals. They have quite a nice selection. I even saw that exact one you bought, IE.
I *think* what I'm going to end up doing is just buying one and then making it my own personal travel journal.
Yeah, I may put some Indy stuff in it but I think I'd just rather make it my own and then hand it down to my kids.
The hard part is going to be finding the money to travel. ;D

I would recommend getting 2, you may need it for the Grail Dairy creations *If* you know what I mean They were $10.00 here, so I don't know what the cost will be at your section of the states. Hope you get lucky Sir.. Respects ~ IE

I believe they were $20 here......I'm not sure... I know I picked one up that was leather and had a metal clasp and that I believe was around $30......I know I saw the prices and said to myself that it would have to wait until after I got all the new toys and some other pieces of gear. ;D

I picked one up like IE's at Barnes n Noble cost $12.95. My wife asked what I was going to put in it, I said I think this one will be my beer recipes. Maybe someday my son will find it when I'm long gone and try to brew some and become the next great American beer co.
