shipping time, help with a new S.A. Wested?

Im interested in getting another wested because well i think i shrunk my new XXL todds a bit, and yea i love the jacket, but i need something i can distress for raiders and have it not shrink soooo much. Ive tried a wested lamb before and i liked it, and know it can take more abuse than this Todds. I think todds its maybe a bit too thin still and wont take any permenant abuse texture wise. My goats great, but its too heavy still. Unless i can wet and restretch the todds some id like another jacket. I know GB is great, would love one, butttt i dont know its pricey still. I know wested has been having issues as of late, but i never had a problem. I dont plan on requesting much, besides maybe making the pockets nicely scalloped if possible.

I was wondering their current shipping time with jackets to the US, or if they might be on a tight schedule at the momment before i start looking into this more. I think i can salvage this todds still as its mainly for costuming so i dont care as much.

But are the Special offer jackets already all made and just need to be shipped, or is it that its a set standard jacket that they make on order?

Ive also been thinking of getting a LC wested, so im a bit mixed on what i want lol, although i dont have alot of LC gear.

I think the "Special Order" Raiders is off the rack and ready to go.....

I'm not sure what Wested's shipping time is now either. I'm guessing it's still a few weeks to a month.

The G&B is expensive, but........I believe the Wested's run over $300 don't they? So there's not that big of a price gap between them. Now I haven't distressed my new jacket but from what I've seen and heard the G&B's can take a lot of abuse.......I think you should reconsider if you're really looking to put a jacket threw H*ll to get the Indy look.

Plus, you don't have to spec anything like pocket sizes, pocket shapes, yoke seam placement, arm socket placement, etc...

Yeah, all you have to do is pick either goat or lambskin and order.

Indakin, I've got a "special offer" from Wested. I can tell you that it can handle hot water, and as far as shipping goes, mine was ordered on a Sunday night on-line and arrived at my door on the following Friday. England to Canada in 5 days. That may not be the norm, but that was without any special shipping instructions or extra $.

thanks guys. And yea your right they still are close to 300 so its not really any cheaper. I really would like a GB to just wear throughout my life as my main leather jacket. No intentional abuse lol, i swear! I have the goat wested, and todds which is good for costuming. I need to check my bills and see if i can throw down for one. It might be something i do later in the year though unfortuneately. Man i just need to relax on buying something new, i think i was mostly upset feeling that my jacket shrank some. But i soaked it again tonight in cold water and then wrinkled it up alot and let it sit. Hung it up for a while too, and now im jsut wearing it. Still wet not not soaking. Besides the wet feeling, the jacket is awesome when it has water in it. The leather hangs even better, and the sleeves arent so short feeling. The bit of extra weight feels great. Hopefully it drys out nicer this time. Im debating weather to cancel my order on my Fed Deluxe, since i have the AB now, and maybe save towards the GB. Do i need 3 jackets... no of course not.... but still lol. I do like not having to decide on specific details though

It's a tough call. I certainly didn't need a second hat at the moment because there's nothing wrong with my AB. For some reason though I've always wanted a second chance with the Akubra's so this looked like a good jumping on point to "try again"......

If your still happy with how your old Fed looks and you've now got the AB which you love then I'd cancel the order for the new hat and put the money toward something else.

I guess it comes down to which your going to get more daily use out of.....another hat or another jacket.

I'm VERY lucky I was able to order my G&B this year. One of the reasons I went for it this year is because I was afraid once the new film came out the price on that jacket would go even higher than it is now.

yea dam lol i know, i fear that too. Well i honestly think ill get more use out of a jacket than a hat. I thought it would be nice to have the 2nd as a different bash variation for costuming, but i have plenty of time. Im selling my current Fed to my friend and i was going to replace it witn the new Fed Del. I also thought with the swarm of fan for the film, i could bash the Fed nicely and put it on ebay... but i guess the hats will always be there too, no need for 2 really cause like i thought, i only wear the AB now the feds like Blah to me lol. Ill think about it again. MY friend JDFett whose joined the boards just bought one, so ill wait and see what its really like since we are the same size almost. IF i love it to death like you all then ill spring for one.

Well, my original plan was to order a G&B and an ABD but then I decided I wanted one of Pagey's whips so I put off getting an ABD for now. If figured I'd still have enough cash to get a factory AB if I wanted another hat.

Well, then they came out and announced the new Feds and since it looked like the factory AB's weren't coming anytime soon I jumped on that since I had the cash.

The only reason I really want a second hat is so I can turn it. My AB was styled by Steve after the river scene in Raiders so there is no turn, which is the way I ordered it. I still want a SOC hat though and this is what I'm planning on doing with the new Deluxe.

I think the smart thing to do is to wait to see how these new Fed's look on other people before you buy one. The thought crossed my mind but I just couldn't wait. So it looks like the people that pre-ordered these are going to be the Guinea Pigs! ;D

So IF you do order a G&B are you going to get a goat? After owning Todd's Lambskin and this new one I don't think I could ever go back to owning a goatskin. I just love how soft this jacket is. ;D

i soaked my todds last night again and let it sit, and then wore it for most of the night, continually stretching out out and the sleeves fit a bit better again. The problem is they fit fine without much crinkle to the arms, but geta bit shorter as i get some, but thats expected. Jacket feels better today for sure, i cant complain. This and my wested both work well for me still. So maybe at some point ill look at the GB still, but both of these jackets suffice for now.

Just to toss my comment in, I ordered a Wested Special lambskin, and I got it in under two weeks, even though in the email I was told it would have to be made. Was faster than I expected, I'm in California and loving this jacket, Heat is reaching the 90s, glad I picked this jacket.

As for strength, Its only been a few weeks, I have had it already had it snag on branches, catch on our fence, leaning against wood posts relaxing, no rips or signs of wear yet, As said in my own thread I got this to replace my old jacket, so im not much caring to SA, and not going to baby it.

I love the jacket so far, and having 6 pockets is great haha
