This is the first of I've heard of this. The latest news I read on any Mummy sequels was that they were making a third film in which Fraser and Weisz would return but the film would center around their older son fighting an Ancient Chinese Emperor that comes back from the dead. I'm guessing this other film is going to have to be a prequel to the first film because he married Evelyn in between one and two and they had their kid. Does anyone know how old Fraser is now? I'm only asking because if it's a prequel their going to have to make him look younger.

"Reimagined in another setting" What the heck does that mean? Are they going to change the time period or just throw away everything established by the previous two films? Sounds like a recipe for a crappy movie. The further adventures or Rick O'Connell or his adventures prior to the Mummy would be great. I hope that's what they really mean.

On the website where Dark Horizons originally got their story from the article says "re-imagines the character in another epic adventure". So Dark Horizons made it seem like they were taking the character and throwing everything else out. Here's the link to the original article. www.productionweekly.com/site.htmlMy guess is this will either be a sequel or prequel to the other two films and it will feature O'Connell battling something besides mummies. I like the guys who wrote the script so this looks like it might be in good hands and might be worth checking out. I've always thought Fraser did a good job in those films and the character was entertaining enough to bring back for other "Indy" type of adventures.

Just found this article at Moviehole.Net....Looks like the "3rd" Mummy movie and this film are one and the same....
Fraser's Mummy deal done
Posted by Clint Morris on September 8, 2006
As previously reported/rumoured/whispered/speculated/tipped Brendan Fraser is returning to take on the inexorable “Mummy” again in Universal’s second sequel to the 1999 surprise – it was, nobody ever expected it to carve into the cabbage – hit, “The Mummy”.
It definitely won’t be called “The Mummy 3” though, says the site, with the studio keen to have this chapter stand on its own.
According to TMZ, Fraser has just signed to reprise his role as adventurer Rick O’Connell in the film, and though Rachel Weisz is tipped to reprise her role from the previous films as well, the site hasn’t a confirmation for her involvement.
“Rocketeer” helmer Joe Johnston has been offered the chance to direct the film, but insiders say he’ll probably pass on the gig.
"Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are penning the new film, said to fix on the O’Connell family – which includes grown-up son Alex – taking on the desiccated remains of China's first uber-Emperor Qin Shihuang, who wants revenge on those who turned his team into stone all those years ago.

That sounds like an interesting plot. Rick O'Connel was a supernaturally marked protector of minkind, so another undead villain makes sense.

I've often wondered if they would make any more Mummy movies, cos I really liked the last two. Rick O'Connell a great character, but not as great as Indy!

i actually liked the mummy alot and Bredon Fraser is actually an actor who i like alot. He does well with the adventure type Indyish character. Hes got a good sense of humor like ford does too. I liked him in the movie Blast From the Past. He is a good actor and I wish he would get more movie parts.
