After all these years and all the Ford movies I've watched I've just now gotten around to watching this ... and its not bad. Its a sappy romance/ WW II movie where HF is basically "Han Solo" dressed in some Indy- ish (leather jacket, officer pinks etc...) gear and he starts Jonesin' for some english chick who's married. (and HOT! ). He gets so torn up over her he starts slacking on his missions. ;D What surprised me away though is Porkins (also Mj Eaton)is in it. Harry tosses him around a little and then he runs outside, yells at an an airplane mechanic and points, lol no one points like Harrison Ford. Seriously, its worth a look IMO. I may even pick it up off Amazon, used or something.

Thanks for "pointing" this movie out, as I had never heard of it. I will check it out myself too. Ken

Ha, no problem. I'm pretty sure the A-2 was a Wested; from when Peter first got HF's measurements. ... there's a montage on youtube or somewhere of movie scenes with HF pointing in between "what have youi done with my wife/family/pet dog/mother-in-law" lines. ;D

This movie came out right after the first Star Wars. My mom saw Star Wars and from that point on liked Ford. She ended up going to see this film. I was little at the time and I thought it still had something to do with Star Wars because of the name " Hanover Street" The english actress it Leslie Ann-Down I believe. I always thought she was hot.

That's definitely one of Ford's less seen films. I did like the last 15 minutes or so. Otherwise it's like The Young and the Restless with cool leather jackets. I never thought that movie was a good choice for Ford because it didn't play to his strengths. His character is selfish, not very likable, and definitely not heroic. Like John Wayne, Gary Cooper, and Jimmy Stewart, Ford was just born to play a hero. Nothing else really fits.

Havana, I, thought he was heroic, just more of a reluctant, flawed, human one. In the end he saves the day and "does the right thing". Kind of a neat take for him IMO., but may be the reason it was not well received. things "Indy-ish": - Harry Poses as a Nazi and goes behind enemy lines. THAT was cool. (One scene right is like right out of Emperor's Tomb video game). - Nazi motorcycle chase. - There's even a showdown on a swinging bridge at the end! I think Speilberg and Lucas stole from this film. OK, not really, but it was cool to see some of that stuff pre-Raiders.

Well, okay. Maybe it wasn't that bad. At least it was better than the Frisco Kid.

Well, okay. Maybe it wasn't that bad. Yea, it was. I've seen it once and found it decent. The aerial sequences are enough to make me grind my teeth. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 4 or 5.

!! Never heard of it ? Seen it a long time ago...and recently bought it on DVD (I didn't even know them made a DVD of it until it caught my eye in a video store). The only way to see it before was to rent a beat-up VHS copy at a nearby video-club. The love story is "sappy" but I love the scenes where the bombers go on missions, and the "infiltration" in the Nazi record room (with our heroes posing as Nazi officers) ending in a chase and then a motorcycle chase in the French countryside (not unlike Last crusade's cycle chase). That makes 4 movies in wich Harrison Ford's character dresses up as a Nazi. ("Raiders", "Last crusade", "Hannover street" and "Force 10 from Navarone"...hope you heard of that one Blues )

Yes, I've seen this movie several times, and its definately one of my favourite HF ones. Harry, Leslie-Anne Down, definately hot. Oh, that English accent. Bama, next time we're on the phone, I'll do my Leslie-Anne Down impersonation just for you.

And in "Force 10..." the Nazi colonel is the same (actor) as in Last Crusade...(michael Byrne) in another scene I'm pretty sure we see "Dietrich" (Wolf Kahler). Michael Sheard (unseen Nazi submarine officer in Raider, A-Hitler in Last Crusade and admiral Ozzel ESB) also has a role in that movie!

Yep, I've seen "Force Ten..." and most all the rest of his movies. Somehow "Hanover St." just slipped through the cracks... most likely the ones in my brain! Ken

I have those 2 movies too. Of course they aren't great movies. But I like them. They are different.
I read somewhere that Harrison Ford made "Hanover Street", because he never kiss a women in a movie...
I like the look he got in Hanover street, it's a little bit like Indy. And he got too the same humour.

I'll have to watch that film. I don't think I've ever seen all of it.

I like it very much. The story can be seen as soppy, but I don't think it is, it's seen as the reality of the time (40's). Their forbidden romance is beautiful and sad, but realistic. One thing I enjoy to see is the relationship of David and Paul ( irony of life!) And yes, Harrison was looking GORGEOUS but...isn't really a surprise
