Paul Verhoeven(Robocop , Totall Recall , Starship troopers) has made a war movie again... This film which I found very good is set in the last days of WWII, and follows a girl in the resistance , its a thriller. It has been sold to 50 countries except the US because.. well its a verhoeven film.... (basic instinct) there is nudity in it... it was his first movie back in holland after 23 Years. And its the most expensive dutch movie ever made I doubt any of you would understand it , but here's the trailer .. www.a-film.nl/trailer.php?id=1194warning this trailer may have some functional nudity The farm seen exploding in the trailer that is not CG , they actually blew up an old farmhouse for this movie And its our countries entry for the Academy awards..

I saw this trailer a few weeks back on another site and I thought it looked like a good WW2 thriller. I was surprised at how much the trailer gave away including the nudity. Are you saying you heard that the reason the film won't be shown in the US is because it has nudity? Oh and I prefer "functional nudity" or "dysfunctional nudity" any day. ;D

it looks interesting, one thing it did notice about it that modern films don't usually have is the very artifical lighting (not necessarily good) and the very sharp focus (good), it makes everything look very clean. Perhaps it was shot in HD? The acting seems very strong though.

That's the music from "X-Men: The Last Stand." Is there stock music for trailers or something?

This movie has been making news all over the world. I really don't think nudity has anything to do with withholding it from US release. If the film is released in the US, then it can't be nominated in the best foreign film Oscar category. If released in the US, it would have to be done by Dec. 25 and it would have to compete in the Best Picture category. Also just doing a theatrical release in the US costs millions. There are about 6,000 movie theatres in the US. If it only played in 25% of those, that would still cost a couple million dollars. The US box office is very savage. Over 65% of the films released in the US don't make their expenses back in the initial theatrical release. I'm guessing they are withholding it to qualify for the best foreign film Oscar and after that, we'll see it in US on unrated DVD.

I agree Havana. I doubt a few boobs would keep the movie out of the US. This looks like an interesting movie. I'd like to see it sometime

I would think this movie will makes it way to the states sometime regardless of the content. Good grief if the MPAA can allow stuff like Jacka$$ 2 to be shown then how can they turn around and say it won't show a serious movie like this?
