This isn't the first I've heard of these types of sightings but now they've given the "creature" the moniker "BearWolf". It's easy to laugh off at first until you sit back and think about all of the things that ARE mating and SHOULDN'T on this planet. How exactly would something like that be possible? Meh, I'm sure Chef on South Park would be able to explain it and do it while singing a catchy song. ;D Anyway.....here's a little note from the artist who created this sketch and the pic itself. Here's a detail from one of a series of illustrations I'm doing based on the mysterious cryptid sightings throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. This headshot drawing is a compilation of features described in different accounts along with some artistic license. The full illustration losely depics the recent Holy Hill "BearWolf" sighting in Southern Wisconsin. Oh, yeah......screw getting a dog. I want one of these things guarding my house. "Hey you kids get off my lawn!" "Screw you mister, we don't have to" "BearWolf Attack!" "AHHhhhhhh!"

I haven't heard of these. So are these things suppose to be the result of a bear and a wolf mating? I think that's physically unlikely and genetically impossible. Or is it suppose to be just some creature of unknown origin? It's amazing to me how the natural world is shrinking every year by leaps and bounds but large (always large) scary creatures keep getting sighted in long settled areas. I'm guessing somebody in the nearby town wants to sell some t-shirts and stir up a tourist attraction - like the Jersey Devil, Mothman, or Roswell. We had the same thing happen down here in SC about 10 years ago. The Lizard Man was what it was called. He was suppose to be some kind of Creature from the Black Lagoon type thing who lived in the swamps and only showed himself to people without cameras or credibility. I guess he was more of an Amphibian Man but perhaps he didn't know better. The main "witness" to this creature also sold T-shirts and gave tours of the habitat. The Lizard Man must have retired and moved to Florida because he hasn't been sighted in a decade.

No, I was making a joke about the "mating" part. I don't know exactly what the "creature" really is but the descriptions from eye witness accounts have described the creature as basically a large black bear with a wolf-like shaped face.......hence the name BearWolf. If I was to make a serious guess as to what this thing is and how it came to be IF it's real I'd say the thing is some kind of genetic mutation. I just saw on the news yesterday a goat that was born with like six legs or something and a whole bunch of other "problems". I'm not a big environmentalist or anything but it's easy to believe with all the polluting that's gone on over the years animals around these areas offspring are being effected at a genetic level by it. Look at that fox or dog the news caught on camera last year that looked all mutated and weird........Somethings going on. Like I said above this isn't the first I've heard of this "BearWolf". Two years ago there was a news story about something similar to this.......in fact now that I think about it I'm guessing it's the same creature. The eye witnesses were driving down a back road somewhere in Wisconsin late one night and they spotted something large over toward the side of the road. It was bent over and looked as if it were eating some road kill. Well, the people slowed the car down to get a better look at it because, by their account , it looked like a large hairy black dog. Once they got closer and the headlights hit it the damn thing stood up like a man and looked straight at them. They described the creature just the way the BearWolf was described.....actually at the time of the article the description reminded me of the werewolf from the movie An American Werewolf in London. Anyway, the BearWolf looked at the car and then picked up whatever it was eating and took off into the field. The eye witnesses then sped away because this thing scared the heck out of them. Yeah, I think I would have soiled myself and passed out if I ran into this thing. The majority of sightings like this are from regular folks minding their own business so I have to believe these people are seeing something.......what exactly is anyones guess. I'm sure some are out there trying to make a name for themselves and a profit from their "story".......... The Lizard Man is another one I've heard of over the years and "It" has been spotted in Florida as well. So you might be right and it did "retire". ;D In fact the story I saw on the Lizard Man in Florida actually had some proof along with it. The eye witness said she came out and saw something duck behind her car. At first she thought it was a kid and then the thing took off across her lawn and she saw it was green and had scales but it ran like a human. After a while she went out and inspected her car where the creature had been hiding and she found claw marks along the side of it. I find it odd though that a lot of these creatures have humanoid features......Bigfoot, The Jersey Devil, The Mothman, The Lizard Man and now this BearWolf. If you want to go the "X-Files" route and become paranoid you could explain these things as some sort of human / animal experimentation that someone nefarious company is doing. Heck, 20 or 30 years ago even cloning was considered far fetched.......now look at it. The only problem with that theory is a lot of these things have been spotted off and on for a long time......even 100 years ago. We know they didn't have the tech back then to gene splice humans with animals. I guess you could always fall back on the old reliable "Alien Theory".
