It looks alot better than the first. Hopefully in this one they'll stay far away from the biblical parallels.

It looks alot better than the first. Hopefully in this one they'll stay far away from the biblical parallels. The entire series was written back in the 1950's by C.S. Lewis, who was also a prominent Christian author. So, the stories are what they are already... and the Biblical connections are actually part of what made them so famous. Incidently, C.S. Lewis and J.R,R. Tolkien (also a Christian) were good friends who used to sit at local coffee shops and talk about story ideas, characters, and such together. Tokien wrote The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings stories during this same time period. The difference between his Biblical references and Lewis's was that he chose to hide his deeper within the story and characters than Lewis did. Both used their stories as a creative medium that also conveyed their spiritual beliefs, however, and part of the reason they have been so well embraced over the years. Ken

I have been pondering renting the first movie. I don't really know anyrhing about it, but it looked interesting. I enjoyed Lord of the Rings, are these movies similar to LOTR?

They share a somewhat similar feel though the Narnia series isn't as dark. I honestly think the best way to watch of these types of movies is to know as little about it as possible (unless you've read the books and have been looking forward to the movies for years). Going into a new world is often times more exciting when you have no clue what you're getting in to. Ken

That way its all new and fresh and I wouldn't have any preconceived thoughts about what it should be. Thanks for the info.

I was just thinking that it might be cool to be able to see it without having any clue as to what's going to happen. If you would rather know more up front, I can include some links here that will do the trick. Ken

That way ya can't be let down if it doesn't follow a beloved book to closely. I've killed many a movie experience by reading novelizations first and being let down. I never read any Tolkien til after I saw LOTR. Oddly the Harry Potter movies are a favorite of mine and I read those books beforehand.

Impressive...most impressive. I hear ya about Goblet of Fire, but at least they managed to show the World Quidditch Championships! I'd love to see a photos of some of your HP wands too. I purchased the Highlander swords from the Noble collection years ago and found them to be quite nice looking, though a bit..pricey. Hamden, CT huh? I'm from Groton myself. Always good to meet a fellow New Englander!

I bought a letter opener for a 12" LOTR figure, and it was $30. It's really cool, though. Came in a wooden case with glass top. I wanted to get the full scale replica of Anduril, but it's like $400. I could almost get an Adventurebilt for that... almost.

I've had highlander swords for years, but they really serve no purpose and just kinda sit there. A hat on the other hand, would be decorative and useful to wear. It also takes up less space in your room. Go with the hat and leave Anduril back in the Shire as a coat rack for the hobbits.

We used a movie gift card I got for Christmas and saw " The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" tonight. It was a great movie with wonderful effects, and a darker look to it than the first chapter. I think fans of the series will be very happy and it should also please the random movie-goer as well. Ken
