Dirk, that's a cool. Is that a fan made thing or something official? I haven't had the chance to watch it yet but I did go to the link and look at the pics. I saw the film in the theaters when I was 5. I think I pretty much sat through the entire film with my mouth wide open. I was totally floored and even though look was the "hero" I wanted to be Han Solo and I fell in love with the Falcon right then and there. That is still to this day my favorite starship out of any film. It's hard to believe it's been 30 years. It seems like yesterday when I came home from school and my parents surprised me with my first SW toys. I got Luke and his landspeeder. Now my kids are playing with them.

I just saw this...It seems everyone is getting in on the SW celebration. Family Guy to Retell Star Wars: Episode IV Source: Variety May 25, 2007
Fox's animated hit "Family Guy" will kick off its fifth season this September with an hourlong episode that retells the "Star Wars" saga using "Family Guy" characters.
Variety says Lucasfilm has blessed the event, which will have the Griffin family acting out all the key scenes and narrative from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane is a major "Star Wars" fan and was personally involved in getting Lucasfilm on board.
Not surprisingly, family patriarch Peter Griffin will play the role of Han Solo, while mom Lois will appear as Princess Leia. Evil baby Stewie will be Darth Vader, natch.
Brian the family dog will serve as Chewbacca, while son Chris is Luke. Robots R2-D2 and C-3PO will be handled by Cleveland and Quagmire, respectively, while creepy old guy Herbert gets the Obi- Wan character.
The plot of the episode has the Griffin family stuck at home during a blackout. With no TV to entertain them, Peter decides to tell a story --- leading to the "Star Wars" flashback.Oh, and I watched that video Dirk. I like the idea and I think Lucas should do something like that but I think that was fan made. It's quite amazing if it was.

I remember the first time I even heard about Star Wars. I was 8(about to turn 9) and started seeing commercials for the film. Didn't think much of it, just figured I would see it sometime that summer. Well, my father brought home a few comics for me, as he usually would once a week, and among them were issues 3 and 4 of the Marvel Comics adaptation of Star Wars.
I read them cover to cover, about 3 times,...and that was it,....I had to find out more about these characters. The story, the robots, the evil Dark Lord, the old wizard, the cool spaceship pilot and his walking dog, the damsel in distress, and the farm boy with the brand new laser sword. I have to admit, lightsabers blew me away. What couldn't one do with a lightsaber?!?
That same weekend, my father and I went and saw Star Wars,...and the opening sequence with the Star Destroyer will forever be etched into my memory, as one of the greatest moments in my film going experience. That shot right there spoke volumes about the coming storm that was to hit ......dun DUN DAAAAA!!!! Star Wars Merchandising!!
Boy did I get alot of Star Wars toys that summer,..and the years to follow. Luckilly my older sister worked at Toys R Us, and she would pick me up a few new figures every week.
Those were the days,..thanks for stirring up some great memories with this thread, Ken. Happy Anniversary Star Wars!!! Mike

Turns out that the trailer for "The New Republic" was fan work. I was pretty impressed with that. Lucasfilm has now released a teaser for the real animated "Clone Wars" can be seen here: www.starwars.com/video/view/000478.html

I was 9 years old at the time, and immediately thought R2D2 was the coolest thing ever. It wasn't long before I began to appreciate just how cool Han Solo was, and always chose to be him when playing Star Wars with my friends. I guess having dark hair made me Han Solo enough at that age, though I certainly wasn't cool enough to pull off that role. I'm still not.... Well, if its any consolation, I think you would have made a pretty good Han Solo.

To be honest I'd like to see to the "Fan Made" trailer be turned into a series then going back and filling in the stuff about the Clone Wars. I'm much more interested in seeing what became of Luke, Han and Leia after Jedi. An "expanded universe" series would be much cooler.

I like the fan trailer more then the official CW trailer , because the cw stuff is a repeat of what we've seen before. (The cartoon clonewars)
IMHO the tales of the new republic stuff is more refreshing.

Yes. Why doesn't Lucas see that? Even the live action TV show won't deal with it. Instead we'll be seeing the time period between Episode 3 and 4. Not that I don't think that might be interesting but I'd rather see post-Jedi stuff.

I saw the first season and part of the second one. I remember Lucas saying in an interview that the end of the cartoon series would lead right into ROTS!! Don't get me wrong the animation looks cool it's the whole "stink" of the prequels that just makes this less appealing to me. There are just so many more interesting directions they could go with an animated series or for that matter a live action one. Heck, Mark Hamill has been doing voice work for years now and I think it would be perfect for him to come back and voice and older Luke rebuilding the Jedi order.

30 years! Wow! I was there in 1977. I had to beg my father relentlessly to take me. Finally, he caved in after several weeks. We drove 40 miles and watched it at a drive-in while sitting in a VW convertible. After that, everything seemed to be Star Wars, at least everything in a kid's world. My parents would never buy me any of the toys which didn't come out until the spring of 1978 but my friends had them. That freakin' 1977 Christmas Special almost ended Star Wars before it even got started. Why isnt' that on DVD? I guess Lucas must have burned that along with the Howard the Duck master copies. How many can remember that one?

Guys, thanks for sharing your Star Wars memories with the rest of us. As for me, I was at the tender age of 4 when Star Wars came out and I think my parently probably thought I was too young to see it, or at least, too young to understand it. Although saying that, a friend of mine saw it when he was 4 and remembers most of it. ;D I think I have some memories of it in the background and I'm sure I remember seeing snippets on tv, but it wasnt until the mid 90's that I got into Star Wars. As much as I like the francise, I still love Indy more, but I guess you guys know that already. ;D

How many can remember that one? Oh, it's available to watch on YouTube. Some of us found that out the hard way. Up until seeing on there I had totally blocked most of it out of my mind. It was a very traumatic experience and it still is. ;D
