Hey all, one of my customers - a gentleman with several hundred hats - asked me to make an open crown hat for him, with the flying-V and everything else that makes a hat an Indy Fedora, except for the dim. cut on the brim. Open crown, as he likes to put in a personal crease - non Indy. So it's a non-Indy / Indy hybrid, sort of. He finally received it yesterday and creased it the way he preferes it. Here are a few pics: Hand sewn, of course: The color is a deep burgundy, in opposite of pink, but you know how a flash can wash out the colors: Again, I'd appreciate your honest opinion, good and bad. Regards, Marc

I'm not sure I care for his bash choices, but then again... it isn't my hat! It's a hybrid look for sure, and he seems to pull it off well. I must say the felt looks super soft... and I'll bet he was very pleased getting that beauty! Nice work as always Marc! Ken

The quality of the hat looks great as usual. The bash isn't even that bad. I prefer to see more curl or bends in a brim. The flat, do nothing, brim doesn't work with that bash. It seems to detract from the character of the hat somehow. I couldn't have an AB Deluxe with anything other than a Raiders bash, though. The hat's capabilities for that are just too good to be a standard- issue fedora. That's like ordering an exact replica of the Blade Runner jacket and then modifying it into a London Fog raincoat or something.

Thanks for the feedback gents!
@tone: the brim was flanged as always, but this gent seemed to flip it down all around. That's why it is so flat now...

Marc

Marc, I wasn't implying that you sent it that way at all. The quality of the hat is still good. I'm just saying that with that particular choice of self-bashing.....maybe sometimes it's better to let your hatter do the whole deal for you.

Well, I think I can help. Just have the guy send his hat to me and I'll work on the bash for oh....about 6 or 7 years! ahahahaa...

I don't think the bash is bad. I think the brim needs some work.
