I am sure many of you are familiar with K on the Run. He has posted here in the past.
If you have not seen the Idol he is working on I suggest you look it up at COW. He is doing a great job and is worth the look.
Cheers, G-MANN

I just went over and took a look at it. Man, so far it's looking really good. I'm wondering if he ends up doing a small run how much he'll end up asking for them. I feel like I'm stuck in that moment where Belloq takes the Idol from Indy and the way he must have felt. All of this stuff keeps slipping through my fingers because I don't have the cash.....Arggh! ;D

Here are the latest pics: s172.photobucket.com/albums/w37/wesdcv/Idol/From what I hear, this idol will be rather like a real artifact, in opposite to being a prop replica. It'll not be metalised, but galvanised(!) using real gold. I won't have the flat bottom, due to being so well balanced, that it can actually rest on its feet and it'll be the most treasure item of my collection Regards, Marc

Hi guys. G, thanks for the advertising and the kind word's.
I'm currently sewing holsters (one more to go in the first batch) then I'll dedicate my time to the very last tinkering on the Idol before making molds and casting. I'm looking in to the total price but there's some uncertainties regarding the production method. I'm hoping to cast them in a brass/resin mix ratio of 60% to 40% this should give them a nice weight and cold metal feel plus give them the conducting capability needed for the galvanising. The total number produced will be around 20 pcs. and they will come with a rolling boulder to those who will pay for the shipping. I really appreciate your kind words guys and humbly retreat to my sewing. Best regards, Kim

Kim, Thanks for the update! I was already really looking forward to the progress on these, but even more so now, since I had to drop out of the Gobler Idol deal and since it also looks like Indy Magnoli has stopped offering his prop-replicas. I've been waiting for the right idol to come along at the right time and something tells me this might just be it. So, these will be a mix of brass and resin? Will it be a resin core with a brass exterior? -GCR

This sounds awesome. I was thinking about selling my gobler idol for some spare cash, but I may just have to put the cash toward this.

The brass/resin is mixed together before pouring it in to the mold. It's like mixing cement with sand. Cheers, Kim

As K stated before: this is supposed to feel and look like the real deal! Read: as a true artifacts, rather then a prop! Gettin' someone who's as picky about such details as K on board of the AB boat was CERTAINLY chosed wisely Glad to work with you K Regards, Marc

There's no denying that Marc. K is certainly a talented, detail oriented guy, and I have faith that whatever he makes will be great. Ken

IMHO I would tend to think that IF this were a real artifact, a tribe such as the Hovitos' would have carved this from a local wood and then overlaid it with gold. Thus making it much lighter. Just think of how little sand Indy used in the drop bag as well as how easy it was to toss to Stupido. Just a thought. Cheers, G-MANN

Good point. But if I remember correctly (and I'm not sure, this is the case), the whole site and the idol itself is said of Chachapoyan origin, while the Hovitos are more like nowadays "keepers" and "guards" of the temple. A chachapoyan idol I would indeed expect to be made from metal ...

I have held the prototype for K's idol im my hands - I instantly had an urge to hust grab it and run away with it while humming the raiders' march.
I have said it before; Kim is a true artist - and this is his finest piece of art so far.
Regards.

K had some other projects, that needed to be finished first and are pretty much done now. I'm confident he'll have some news beginning next year Regards, Marc

After missing out on Gobler's Idol, I am rly hoping he does a small run of these so i can get one. In the mean time, I picked up an older one off of ebay. Im currently having it reshaped and the hair grooves straitened/fixed by a friend who works at an auto body shop. Next it will be painted just like the Green Goblin's suit in the Spiderman movie. For that they used special paint, purple and then green over it so if it catches the light right its got a purple hue to it. Im getting bronze and then gold over it. It should give it a crisp golden look but when it hits the light right it'll have an antique look to it as well. I will post pics when it done sometime twoards the end of the week hopefully.

The Idol is on top of the list right now. I think your right G-MANN the real deal would have been light, either wood or clay with gold on top. I'm not sure how light mine will be, it might end up being heavy because of the casting material I'm hoping to use.
To all of you who wants moving eyes. Sorry not gonna happen, just to much work and to many hours. The molds alone will be very complex and the fitting of the parts will take for ever if it has to look any good.
Happy new year all. Kim

Kim Great news, im very much looking forward to seeing them as well, and hopefully owning one. As for that link, Im pretty sure he no longer offers those "moving eyes" idols, but it cannot hurt to ask.
