Do any of you folks have any idea how to soften up a Nylon Liner while it is in the Jacket.
The US Wings jacket that I got from Prof.Wex has a very stiff liner.
I was hoping someone had an idea of how to soften it up.
I do not want to run it through the washer though.
I suppose I could try the dryer with no heat and some bounce fabric softener sheets.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, G-MANN

Hey G-MANN, After mulling this one over, I think the dryer with no heat might indeed be the way to go. Tossing the jacket, inside out, in a pillow case and then putting a few of the dryer sheets in the pillow case with the jacket might not be a bad place to start. To be honest I'm really surprised that they'd make a jacket out of such a stiff material. Do newer US Wings jackets have the same nylon liner? -GCR

If it is really unpleasant you might even get it relined. Redbeard has his liner replaced at Wested during the summit, it took them less than an hour apparently. I think they charged about $50.
So you could get a seamstress to do that for you locally in a fabric you like.

Maybe you could handwash the jacket with Woolite - focusing on the liner, and trying not to soak the leather. The only thing that I know of to soften cloth is to repeatedly wash it. Was the lining treated with anything? I have never seen a stiff nylon lining.

Thanks for all the suggestions What I ended up doing was wiping down and basically soaking only the liner with water and just a touch of fabric softener. The lining is MUCH better. I think perhaps one more session and it will be perfect. The Outer shell now is also much softer since the lining is not keeping it stiff from the inside. Cheers, G-MANN

Hey G-Mann, I'm happy to hear that your getting the lining to soften up , It was a very stiff lining. I guess I just got used to it, but it did bother me when I first started wearing it. I thought about just getting it replaced, but just never got around to it. Did the sleeves ever soften up? they were a little stiff as well, but I always thought it was just that lining. Sincerely, Prof.Wex

Wex, Yes these entire jacket is much more relaxed now, even the sleeves and lining. It's actually very comfortable now. Thanks again G-MANN
