Hey everyone, I'm excited to say that my first wested arrived today! It's the Raiders jacket in Dark Brown Lambskin! i love it. I feel like it can be a bit longer in the body, but i honestly don't want to send it all the way back just for that. Let me know what you think! The fedora is still my cheap $50 Lucasfilm one. The bag is a WPG Original MKVII witha modified rifle sling with a KOTCS buckle, unfortunately it rides low, i might get one of Todds. As far as the holster, it's just a place holder for now...

I think it looks pretty good, but it's hard to tell about the length, since you have your one arm raised. The bag actually looks like it is positioned fine, as well. Congrats on your first Wested. Mike

The dark brown color sure looks great on lambskin doesn't it? I am offering my opinion on the fit of your new jacket, in a totally constructive fashion, with no intent to be negative at all. That said, I think the jacket is just too small for you. Not only in the body length itself, but also the sleeve length. I can see the body of the jacket easily being 3 inches longer, to look right on you. The sleeves of a new leather jacket should come close to or right on the knuckle where your thumb joins onto your hand. That may seem like it's a hair too long, but it will shrink up as the leather ages and begins to wrinkle while settling into the shape of your shoulders and arm bend. As much as I don't want to rain on your enthusiasm, I really think you should send that one back for a longer version. I know you will regret keeping this one. If you do decide to return it for a new one, please ask for the smaller size pockets. I think you will be eternally happier with pockets that match the overall scale of the jacket than the standard over-sized ones Wested insists on using. I/we can give you the dimensions to match your jacket size, if you decide that you are interested. Just check out a G&B Expedition or any Raiders screen cap to see what size they should be in relation to the rest of the jacket. Again... sorry to offer what might seem like a negative reaction. I only do so with what I feel is your best interest in mind. You are on your way to owning a very cool and useful collection of clothing/gear, and the jacket is something you are bound to wear quite a bit. It should really fit you well. Ken

Do you know how much it is? I actually do really like it, and the colar is so good~!~ I don't know. I really like it.
So how much would it be to send it back for modifications?

First off, congrats! Secondly...I'd say I agree with Ken to a certain extent. The jacket looks like it could stand to be a bit bigger, but it also doesn't jump out at me as being overly small, either. It is a bit hard to really get a good look from these shots alone. That said, if it were me, and I thought it was too small, I'd send it back and get another. My very first Wested was too small because I had measured myself wrong from the get-go, and I was never totally happy with the jacket. Instead of just sending it back right away, I kept it and wore it and tried to live with it, until finally I just gave in and ordered a new one...4 years later. If it doesn't bother you, then keep it, but if it does bother you, even a little, listen to yourself and exchange it. I know waiting for new gears sucks, and getting all excited when new gear arrives, only to have to send it back for whatever reason sucks worse. I hope it all works out for the best in the long run, whether you keep it or not. Now...about those shoes...definitely not screen-accurate to any of the Indy films, but I swear they are dead-on screen-accurate for Charlie Pace gear! ;D -GCR

Jacket looks great! I got mine a few months back. I'm thinking about getting the shoulder pads removed. You don't seem to have that problem, though. And if you aren't 100% happy with it, I wouldn't send it back until you're sure that you need it upgraded. Now...about those shoes...definitely not screen-accurate to any of the Indy films, but I swear they are dead-on screen-accurate for Charlie Pace gear! ;D -GCR Awe, did you see last night's LOST? Everyone was so sad over what happened to Charlie. I sympathize. But this is better left to the General Discussion forum. ;D -Josh

I'm going to try and get a few more pics up as soon as my camera charges. I love the jacket... but the length does seem to be a twitch in my conscience.
$100 round trip to send it back.. I don't know i think it can do with maybe 1" or 2" on the body, and maybe 1" on the sleeves, but ... damn it. it really does suck when this awesome, dream-fulfilling gear doesn't turn out how you planned

It could be the way the flash has worked but that jacket looks like an authentic brown to me. Can you tell me... doe it have facings inside the zipper and facings on the pocket because I really have a feeling that is one of their "off the shelf" Raiders jackets. You look like a tall fellow and that jacket does look a bit too short for you. I would send it back and order a custom. About a couple of inches longer in the body and a little more on the sleeves. On the positive side the sleeves holes are nice and high and you look very pleased! You decide on the colour. IMO the body length is someting you shouldn't 'settle' with as it really will make the jacket hard to live with. When you get it right, you'll have a jacket that you won't want to take off! On the bag strap, good job. You have all the hardware I'd just dig around and find a longer strap... 65-70" and work from there.

That's your CS roller buckle, KT. I bought two used rifle slings as temporary straps until my official one arrived for my bag and since you sent two buckles (thank you again), I figured I'd loan one out until a certain fellow Indy Lounger found an official strap of his own. They work and look great, by the way. Just thought you'd like to know that. - Chevy

I know what it's like to get a great jacket and not want to send it back - it's SO hard to admit that it's not perfect, because it so nearly is. My first Wested was far to big for me and I spent hours lokoing in various mirrors trying to make myself believe it' d be OK. In the end I had to send it back and I was SSSSSSSSSSOOOOO glad I did!! When the replacement arrived (pretty promptly too) it was such a difference. That was a few years ago - but when I recently received my new horsehide jacket I had a similar dilemma. Some stitching was loose and the sleeves were a little short. Again, much looking in mirrors- but I sent it back. And again I'm so glad I did.
Personally, I think your jacket looks a little short. In a brand new jacket it can look passable - but in a few months you'll really notice it. Hard though it is, you really ought to send it back for a longer one. You'll be much happier in the end.

Ok, as of today, my "too short" jacket was sent back. three more inches in the body length, and one more inch in the arms. Keeping my fingers crossed, as soon as I get it back I'll post pics.
