Well, I've been wearing the jacket out and about tonight. I'm still trying to get over how light weight it is. It's going to take time to get used to considering I'm use to wearing my Wested around a lot. It's a bit chilly here especially with the wind and with only a long sleeve cotton shirt on underneath it did keep me fairly warm. I just don't think I'm going to try and wear this jacket around during the winter even with a sweater underneath. This really is a spring and summer type jacket. It's still got a heavy "new leather" smell which I both love and hate all at the same time. ;D The leather is beginning to relax a little more and I'm noticing it's getting some nice wrinkles to it. It really does drape like the jacket onscreen. I still can't get over that. There's really not anything I would personally change on the jacket at all.....Well, it wouldn't hurt to have it a little bit heavier but that's about it. I'm really curious as to how the leather on this jacket is going to age over time. I have not treated the leather with anything yet. I may or may not. I'm really curious to see how it holds up with a little bit of rain on it. So far I have yet to test that. I plan on wearing it a lot this weekend so I'll let everyone know if I notice anything "odd".

I have been wearing my new Todd's Indy jacket for a day now and I will comment a bit:
First, it looks like the movie jacket and "hangs" very well. The constructing is very good despite its light weight.
Because the jacket is so thin, like a windbreaker, I would consider this to be more of a "dress" jacket. In other words, if you care for it like a nice sport coat it should last, but if you are running through brambles, or rolling around, or adventuring, I wouldn't think it could stand up. The same goes for aging the jacket. The lambskin is so thin that I would think that any abuse, even controlled, would weaken the leather to the point of faliure. Even though I worry about it ripping if I snag something, I still marvel how great it looks.
Oh, about the sizing..
I have a 41 in. chest and a 32 in. waist. I usually wear M shirts, but occasionally S or even L depending on style and cut. The medium jacket I ordered was snug, but fit fine. It is like a second skin. If M size in shirts or jackets fits, but is not roomy, I would suggest the Large for comfort. I doubt it would be "swimming" on you, and you can of course sinch up at the waist with the slide adjusters.
The Todd jacket weighs no more than 1 lbs, maybe 2, as the whole unopened box with the packaging weighed only 3 lbs.
That said...
I was wondering if anyone has, and could weigh a Wested and/or US Wings lambskin jacket so I can compare it to the Todd jacket.
Thanks...

Thank you, John. I've been wearing my jacket all weekend out both in nasty weather and nice weather. Today was actually a perfect day for a jacket like this. The sun was out and the temp was in the low 70's. I was very comfortable in it. The more I wear this jacket the more I love it. Not only is it "SA" and a good deal it's also now become my new "lucky jacket". While I was out wearing it tonight I got to meet the Playboy Playmate of the year and got a signed autograph from her. ;D

I just sent a size 38 wested lamb it weighed about 1.2 kilos/ 2.65lb, a size 40 cowhide weighed about 2.4 kilos/ 5.3lb. Yup, the cowhide actually weighed TWICE that of the lamb.

I do plan on getting another lamb Indy jacket someday. I'm just not sure if I'll go with another Wested or go for the G&B jacket.
It's interesting to learn that the Wested Lamb isn't much heavier than Todd's jacket.

It's interesting to learn that the Wested Lamb isn't much heavier than Todd's jacket. Wow, that it is. While I would never call my Wested lamb "heavy", I will also say that it always seemed to possess enough substance to truly feel like a "leather jacket", at least to me. I've got another lambskin jacket (in black) that is more of a "dress" jacket, and the leather is thinner. Even with a thin layer of "filler" between the liner and the leather, this dress jacket is still lighter than my Wested lamb. I wonder if KT was referencing the newer "special offer" jackets from Wested, which are supposed to be thinner than the custom Westeds? -GCR

That one was a standard, 6+ year old lambskin size 38 Raiders jacket. The newer 'special offer' ones will be slightly lighter, I'm guessing under 2lb.
This was using post office scales, so is pretty accurate. One of the guys who's bought a Todd Budget can you get it on some scales and get us a real weight?

I would but I don't own any scales to weigh it on.

Just put my Todd Coyle's jacket on a doctor's scale (the kind with sliding weights) and it weighed approx. 22 oz. (US) or about 1.25 lbs.
I was thinking about getting the new, Wested sp. offer "crunch" lamb jacket, but now that people are saying that the Westeds are not that much heavier, I think I might get a US Wings distressed cowhide, as I am sure they will stand up to anything.
I know Wested makes a cowhide, but it is custom, so more expensive.
Please note, I LOVE my Todd/Coyle's jacket. It is great to wear just hanging out, and esp. in mild weather, but I would also like a more sturdy, substantial Indy for knocking about.

I can't tell you how tempted I've been to order one of these jackets! They look SO Raiders it's uncanny. All the time I was waiting for my MIA horsehide to turn up, I was looking at these terrific jackets getting posted and it has been torture!! And such an unbeatable price too!! I still wonder whether I'll sucumb and buy one as a knock about jacket anyway (NO, muct resist!! One Indy jacket is enough!!) Keep the pics coming.

I saw the pics of your horsehide jacket and it really does look great and I still love my goatskin Wested but this jacket from Todd is the best fitting leather jacket I've ever owned. All of my other jackets including my Wested always come off looking a little bulky on me. The goatskin is great but it also feels like I'm wearing body armor a lot of the time. Todd's jacket on the other hand just clings to me and half the time I don't even feel it on me. I just love the way it drapes and I can't wait to wear it with the rest of my gear more before it gets to cold this year. Heck, who knows I'll probably end up wearing it out for a few "Winter Indy" pics.

A good fit is definitely essential to the look. My old Wested had huge armholes and was generally too wide. Squirrel factor?? More like hangglider effect! The 80s fit with the narrower armholes makes a terrific difference. The only thing holding me back from ordering a Todd standard is the fact that I believe in owning one Indy jacket and making it THE jacket. And I couldn't rely on a thin lambskin as my one and only jacket. Yes, winter pics (or any more pics) would be very cool!

Yeah, that's the only "unknown" about Todd's standard jacket. How long it's going to last. I guess my feeling is that the thicker the leather the longer it will hold up. Of course that may not be the case at all......especially this jacket. So I can understand only wanting to own one Indy jacket and wanting something a little thicker, but.....That $150 price tag is a pretty cheap and it's not like it could be easily replaced IF something happened. Depending on the weather next Wednesday I plan on wearing it with my gear on Halloween so I should have more shots to post by then. IF I'm lucky I'll have my Crystal Skull to.

Hey Chris, would you do me a favor , can you measure the length from the tip of the shoulder of the jacket to the cuff?
thanks

Honestly, we have no idea how long anything will last when we buy it. People who take care of things enjoy a longer life with most things, but it's still an unknown factor.
We do know that thicker leather should last longer than a thinner coat made from a thinner version of the same hide. But, there are other factors at play including most importantly, the construction techniques and how the user treats it.
It'a trade off based on looks versus perceived longevity. adding to what Pitfall said, for $150 I imagine anyone will more than get their money's worth.

yep thanks. It really sucks not being able to get one of these. But Todd just doesnt have any with longer sleeves. the sleeves would be 4 inches too small on me. So it would be more of a leather T-shirt. ;D

Well, to be honest I probably could have gotten away with having the sleeves a bit longer myself. I mean it looks fine but I'm used to my Wested and the sleeves on that come to about the middle of my thumb.
So I probably could get away with wearing an XXL IF Todd ever offers that size.
It's to bad those sleeves are a bit to short for you Dirk. I hate to see anyone miss out on a deal like this.

yeah but an XXL jacket would be TOO roomy in the chest area, so thats not it either.
