Well, help me decide whether I should be kicking myself in the ass. After the Wested site said they were out of Special Offer "Raiders" jackets I decided to take advantage of the stone washed denim jacket, size 42. Well, I see today (2:14 AM) that there's a size 42 jacket in stock. It, being leather, costs more than the denim jacket. Naturally. But come on! I should have saved up a little more cash and waited. So, I'm super depressed. Is there any since in me buying this jacket? and doing... well, nothing with the denim jacket? Dang it! I'm in a major pickle. We're talking 2 month old dill, here. ;D At least I can try and cheer myself up. PLEASE help me. Josh

Many of us here have more than 1 jacket. ;D The denim will be great for the occasions where the leather is just a bit too warm. That 42 is nice and is a bit of a bargain so you might consider it if it is your size. On top of that Wested has some stock sized jackets in a "Lightweight" Authentic Brown lamb and a "Crunch" Russet lamb that should be coming online soon. I belive they will be about £125 too. These are the latest version of the budget "ROLTA" Raiders spec jackets.

Thanks, Kt. I don't think I can afford the leather jacket right now. But if they still have it in a few weeks, I might jump on it.

hmm... you think you're in a pickle? well 3 days ago I just ordered a lambskin raiders jacket! -To quote the Doc: "Damn... Damn, Damn... Damn, Damn, Damn!" oh, well I still think the special offer one looks too light-colored for my taste. I ordered the dark brown lamb. I think it looks more SA even though peter calls this one "authentic". -at least that's how I'll rationalize not kicking myself over this deal. -Snakes

'Snakes,
You're not alone in opinion of the Authentic Brown vs. the Dark Brown. I've always been a fan of the dark brown myself, as I agree, it seems to match up better with the dark color the Raiders jacket seems to be in most scenes.
I DO think that the actual screen-used jacket probably was closer to the authentic brown in color, but thanks to set lighting and whatever they did to it in the way of distressing, it looks more like the dark brown color to me.
Anyways, don't forget some pics once the jacket arrives. Did you ask for any special modifications or specs on your order?

I ordered it over the phone and Gemma told me I should get it in 10 days. I dunno if that's really possible, but I did order the standard dark brown in a size 38. I'm a pretty thin guy, and I wanted that "fitted" raiders look, so I thought just getting a standard 38 would be good for me. As far as special requests, I've heard a lot of stories about Peter screwing up details when people order custom jackets, and I guess the pockets shape isn't that important to me as long as it looks close enough to an "indy-jacket pocket". Plus I've heard he's made the jackets more SA in the last few years, so I was curious to see what I'd get with a stock dark brown wested. I may have to get the sleeves shortened (apparently I have short arms) because I've done that with a few of my other jackets. I'm also gonna swap out the D-rings once I get it. If I don't like what I get, I've seen these babies go for $300-$400 on ebay... ;D But I will be sure to post some pics for you guys of a current dark brown, non-custom wested once I get it. with any luck I might get it in time for Halloween! -Snakes

10 days!!! I think that would be a first for a new jacket! (Except maybe for KT, but it seems like he spends half his time at Wested's shop anyways... ;D kidding ya, KT ) I would say, from the pics I've seen, that Wested has started to make the jackets more SA in the last few MONTHS, not years. I bought my last Wested in 2003, and while it's not perfect in every detail, it's actually not all that far off, either. You can see pics of my Wested next to my G&B Expedition in my gear thread: indylounge.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=gallery&action=display&thread=1170548853However, I've seen some Wested jackets made in the years since I bought mine, where the pockets were MUCH bigger and seemed out of proportion. Newer Wested jackets I've seen over the last month or two seem to be much better in that regard, though. -GCR

Spend too much time at Wested? I don't know what you mean. ;D Their new budget range is ticking most of the boxes these days. Silver zipper, zipper close to the bottom of the jacket, rounded stormflap, small pockets, no lether facing, piped pocket, smaller yoke and authentic brown lambskin now. Looks pretty good. NOTE Turns out my original pics of these were WAY off colourwise. On placing one next to my authentic brown lamb I can get a much better appreciation of the colour. Now it is lightly lighter and slightly yellower is really is not very far off authentic brown... so here you go colour corrected images follow.

Wow!!! That is definitely one of the best looking "Raiders style" Westeds that I have ever seen! Not to be the type of anal, obsessive yahoo who immediately points out the one minor flaw amid a sea of awesomeness, but I couldn't help but notice the arm seam, yoke seam placement is still level. KT, do you know if Peter has any plans to adjust that on the future jackets? Anyways, now that I've been the anal, obsessive yahoo, I can honestly say this jacket looks GREAT. I wouldn't mind adding one of these to my collection at some point. Any idea how much these cost? (Or, maybe I'll just NOT be lazy and go check for myself... ;D ) -GCR

You know, the moved arm seam is the one thing he really, really does not appear to like to do.
These are meant for the 'I want it now' Halloween crowd, they are even lighter in weight than the normal lambskin and only come in standard sizing. That said they are cut a little long to allow for that.
Price is £125 on the Wested Leather Co. site.

Well, I finally to order a Special Offer Raiders jacket, the "Crunch" lambskin version. I usually wear a size 42, so I went with that. If it's a little big, I expect to eventually put on some muscle, since now I am on skinny dude with a beer belly. ;D Here's the link to the "crunch" style: www.ekmpowershop4.com/ekmps/shops/westedcom/special-offer-raiders-jacket-crunch-lambskin-75-p.aspI just thought I'd share that. Oh, and if anyone knows, how long after I place the order does it usually take to get the jacket shipped to the east coast of the USA? Josh

I ordered my Raiders jacket in sept. and recieved it in just under two weeks. Shipped to AZ. I have been checking through Wested's website looking for the HH jackets and the only thing I see are the Raiders/LC and denim raiders. Anyone know where I could see some actual pics of the HH, and is it cheaper then the goat? I want a jacket to distress basically. I just saw the thread with Kt's HH pics. That is a nice jacket.

Well, I just received my Special Offer Raiders "Crush" lamb skin... BOO-YA! I am totally ecstatic! I cannot wait to take pictures and show everyone. I think I'm going to wear it to church in the morning!! ;D Of course I won't wear it during the service, but man. I can't wait to show it off.
Oh, and I was a little worried that a 42 would be a little big. Not a problem. Fits like a glove... or like a jacket. ;D

Before Todd even offered his standard Indy jacket I was looking at Wested's standard Indy jacket offer that's similar to the "crush" lambskin offer but my size was out of stock. So I ended up waiting and going with Todd's jacket. I can't wait to see the pics of the new jacket. I'm sure it'll look great.

Hopefully I'll be able to take pictures Wednesday. I'm also thinking of reshaping the brim of my Akubra Federation: it doesn't come down enough in the front.
Till then,

Fusion - The jacket looks good. The fit, pattern, etc, all look great. The color seems a bit on the light side (could be the flash - flash photography can do some weird-ass stuff to the color of gear in pictures) but still a nice color brown. I'm wondering how a nice coat of brown pecards might look on it. What's the leather like? Is it thin? What sort of texture does it have? Anyways, glad you like it. You wear it well! Congrats! -GCR

Looks a really nice fit, now go our and wear it in!
I would take the shoulder pads out, it looks like you don't need them and it would improve the drape. Should be a 5 minute job for some one who knows their way round a sewing box.

I've thought about removing the shoulder pads, but I'd really rather not mess with it, myself. Maybe I can get my bro to do it.
It's lamb, and the thickness is medium, I'd say. And where can I find some pecards? Does it come as a spray or what?
I was also wondering how well it does in the rain. I don't want to ruin it.
Glad you guys like it 'cause I sure do!
Josh
