Last Crusade collar

Just curious. Who here actuallylikes the larger Last Crusade collar that Wested puts on their LC jackets??

I recently puchased a used Wested Horsehide(beautiful jacket, worthy of it's own thread, but I digress) and it was a Last Crusade model. The collar was ginormous(real word now, btw...check the newest Websters) and was literally 4 inches from collar stand to tip. I really don't think the collar was this big in the film, or the back of Indy's collar would meet his fedora.

While the larger points aren't horrible, the collar was 4 inches all the way around!?! It literally looked like a Dracula cape collar, or Elvis in his Vegas jumpsuit(uh-huh-huh, thankyouverymuch). .

Well, the collar was way too big for me, but I loved the Horsehide, sooooooo.....
I took the jacket to a local tailor, who is going to take a full inch off the collar all the way around. this way it wil match the collar on my G&B.

So, like I asked in the beginning, who actually likes the ginormous Wested LC collar??

Well, I don't think I've seen the Wested LC jacket, but it doesn't sound right to me. I would do the same thing that you're doing with a tailor.

But if someone gave me a real Horsehide LC Wested jacket for free, I'd take it. ;D

I'm gonna go with "no" on that one. I never was much of a "ginormous collar" fan.

Wested does make some Elvis costumes. Maybe they mixed up the patterns? I don't mind a larger collar but 4 inches seems a bit extreme.

Ha HA! For a while the collar had mutated into just a bigger version of the raiders collar plus a snap. It is now back to the LC proportions and shape. On my one it is just under 3 1/2" from collar stand to tip.

After a small raiders collar it take a bit of getting used to visually. But a change is as good as a rest as they say.

Besides the popped stitch, my only concern with my LC is the collar configuration as seen here:



It is block shaped and not pointed like the new. I have been able to shape it a little with time (photo was taken when the coat was only 2 weeks old) and improve it, but still it is not the cool LC Screen collar.

To be quite honest, I am some what disappointed that Wested did not make the collars more SA when I purchased mine. The web site did not really have a good photo at the time and only indicated that the LC coat had press studs and a "larger" Collar. I still like my jacket, but the collar is not what I was paying for.
