Well, after sending back two Todd jackets I've now got a new Wested in horsehide. First off, many thanks to Peter for getting this to my door in just three weeks from taking my order over the phone! The leather is very tough feeling without being stiff and is a little heavier than my previous goat. I'm very happy with it and look forward to how it will age ( I won't be giving it so much help this time!) My only concern is the sleeve length. I asked for sleeves a little longer than on my last jacket - and they are actually longer. Somehow the better fit of the jacket means they reach the same point on my hand as the shorter sleeves on my goat. I'm mulling over whether or not it's worth changing.

Sweet looking jacket, Pagey! The design reminds me a lot of my 4 year old lambskin Wested. Is that the dark brown leather or authentic? I wouldn't worry too much about the sleeves, they look like they fit well to me. Of course, if you're going for the super-wrinkled "ToD" style sleeves, a little extra length might not hurt. I'm curious to see how one of these horse-hide jackets will age and distress and hold up to wear and tear in general. My lambskin has held up very well, so I imagine something more sturdy will handle regular wear even better. Nice jacket once again! -GCR

Thanks, I've decided I'm happy enough with the sleeves. Due to the smaller arm holes, they don't ride up as much as on my old goat Wested. As for colour, horsehide only comes in this colour - it's pretty much the same as dark brown.

I thought it looked more dark brownish...my favorite Indy jacket color, very nice! Planning any modifications? Cold water treatment perhaps? Are you going to swap out the D-rings or leave them be?
How deep would you say your back pleats are? The back panel seems to rest in place very well.
Very nice jacket, once again!

I think that looks a very nice jacket indeed. I'm a big fan of the current horsehide and I find myself sorely tempted yet again! Good fit on the body. So do you think this is a good substitute for the goat?
I like the slimmer sleeves and the pocket flap looks good too.
The sleeves could possibly be 1/2" to an inch longer, but if they feel ok when you are driving etc then keep it.

I love the cut of that jacket. The back panel and yoke panel are PERFECT! The yoke is nice and high, and back panel has a nice taper. Looks like a winner to me, congrats! 'Blues

Has Wested run out of the Black Sliders or did you order the jacket with the D-Rings?

I like brown color on this one and the fit works well on you. The horsehide looks smooth like lambskin in these photos too. I'm not trying to throw a monkey into the cake, but I wish Peter would adjust the pocket size/shape for people. That's one of my biggest beefs with a Wested jacket. I think the sleeves are fine for now, but as you mentioned being worried about them.... I know you mean for the future. I would be concerned that they might draw up too much with the wrinkling and minor shrinkage that occurs with a little time. Best of luck with your new pal... uh, I mean jacket , Ken

It looks like it is near perfect! Some of the best we have seen from Peter in a while. Flaps look great-not too scalloped or to square! I had better place my order quick.....HMMM, Wested HH in Raiders or the "REVISED" LC......Decisions decisions.

Well I sent the jacket back a week or two after getting it because some stitching was loose. After a few more weeks I rang them up to see what had become of my jacket and was told it would be shipped at the end of that week. Three more weeks down the line and it's obviously not been sent. I will phone tomorow and ask for a refund. They can keep the jacket. I'm now through with Indy jackets.

I don't know, it does seem a long time... Usually repairs seem to get done quite quick.
It has been the holiday season and they have been short staffed in aug and sept. Although, I imagine that jacket should have been in the queue somewhere.
Nick, I'm sorry to hear it's turned you right off.

Yeah, to hell with it. I've been quite happily wearing a non- Indy jacket since July.

That is quite a while.
When you have one or two back up jackets waiting is not that much of an issue. Since this is your only one I can understand why you're not too happy.
Cheers, G-MANN

Nick, I had a huge problem wih Wested when it came to the rocketeer jacket I ordered from them. They use my measurments from my indy jacket not the ones I sent them. I sent it back and they said they couldn't make it because my chest and shoulder's are so much more than my waist. it took them almost 5 months to get the refund to me.
I hope you have better uck than I did. You must stay on top of them or they will forget you.

Well I spoke with Wested and they were pretty surprised as according to their records the jacket was sent out a few weeks ago. Normally shipping should take a week at most from the UK so it seems to have gone AWOL. I will know more soon, once Wested have grilled ParcelForce.

Yesterday I got my jacket back! Which is to say that I got the replacement jacket that Wested made up for me from my original order. It seems the first one was lost by Parcelforce (not by Wested). I think it's very decent that Wested made me up a new one (and I asked for another inch in the sleeves this time around), at their own cost until they get reimbursed by Parcelforce. Anyway, the jacket is an even better fit than the original and I love it to bits. No inside facings really adds to the drape too. All's well at last!
