Good day friends , and fellow gear heads!! Ive gotten almost all my gear complete now, But... Still need that really important part: The Jacket. Now with my summer job which earns good, I could easily get a GB expo, or a Wested , or a Todds! But and now here's the thing: I want my jacket to look Indy ( DUH) but I don't want to distress any of the expensive jackets mentioned above. Not only that, I dont wanna risk a jacket like a wested to not look like what I ordered. So iam looking for something that is 2nd hand , or even third fourth what ever ( something that needs distressing ) Or Something that already is. Input and advise is greatley appreciated. Dirk,
Speaking from personal experience, the only jacket I know of that seems to be 99.9% consistant as far as looks and quality is the Expedition. I had 2 Lambskin jackets from them in different sizes. Other than the size difference they were identical in every way. The one that I still have has broken in very nicely and there is not a single loose stitch on it. The G&B is also guaranteed for life, stitching and zipper.
I have nothing against Wested and both the jackets I purchased directly from them were nice high quality jackets that came with none of the Nightmare problems I have read about.
Both jackets that I have gotten from Todd are nice also but I have not worn them enough to give any kind of report as to the durability of either one.
Lastly US Wings jackets seem to be all over the place as far as the leather that they use and the newer ones just don't have that "Indy" look. However they are very tough jackets that can certainly take a beating.

John,
I have heard nothing but positive things about the expo. But the thing is... Its not the most cheapest jacket ( Its the second next to 3 mentioned by me) but , I don't wanna screw it up in terms of size, and the fact I want to distress my jacket to get an indy look ( for my display) I want to have a mannequin , with all gear displayed on it.

Dirk,
So basically you want a pre-distressed jacket that will fit you and the mannequin. Is that correct?
If so I would just wait for a good used Wested that you can see before buying.

But Iam not looking for the Pre Distressed leather that wested sells.

Update:
I have been thinking about this long and hard. But due to the fact that my sizes arent that regular I think I will have to order a custom wested. Iam going to have measurements taken at a tailor, and will order it after next weekend.
I will post my specs etc here in this thread. I will not be distressing it right away.

Peace Dirk Dirk, I was actually going to suggest that course of action myself, so I think you're decision is the right way to go. The Wested is the cheapest, should (hopefully) fit you just right and it will make a great starter jacket if you plan on distressing it. Even if it isn't 100% screen-accurate it should still be close enough for a good display. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it arrives. Good luck with the order!  -GCR |

So Dirk, any ideas of what type of Wested you're going to go for? Dark brown or authentic? Raiders, ToD or LC? Type of leather? Any special mods or requests?
