Kaplan -- that jacket looks fantastic on you! Awesome stuff. Todd should feature your picture on his web site, seriously. Congrats, Steve

Kaplan, The Jacket does look great on you just as Steve said. It's nice to see Todd is getting everyones jackets out much quicker these days. Are you happy with how yours fits? Cheers, G-MANN

Looks really great! Nice to see one that fits the wearer and matches in color! That jacket looks about as Indy as they get, Kaplan! Congrats! Looks like Todd's working out the kinks very well. Kudos to the guys who've taken early hits on their jackets during the adjustments. (IB, can't wait to see how jacket 2 is going to look on you, also.)

The jacket looks good. Is this one also Cowhide? I also noticed that the straps don't look as long on your jacket as it did IB's jacket.

Awesome looking jacket you have there, Kap!!! Great to see how such a fine jacket looks when combined with all the other gear. I'm loving the Thompson, too! It would have been great to see Indy tote one of those around! Nice work on the jacket, Todd! One of the best ones yet, in my opinion! -GCR

Kaplan, the jacket looks fantastic. What was your first impression of the weight, and the overall "feel" of the jacket?? When I pulled my jacket out of the box, I was amazed at how lightweight it was, yet it still felt sturdy. 'Blues

Kaplan -- that jacket looks fantastic on you! Awesome stuff. Todd should feature your picture on his web site, seriously. Congrats, Steve Wow! thanks steve! I think it's the jacket though...not me. Thanks to you as well G-Mann. I was really surprised how fast he got it out to me...I was willing to wait another month or so. As for the fit, I think it may be a little tight in the shoulders. I'll post a pic soon of it all the way zipped up. The jacket could be a few inches longer in length. I think I should have ordered a 42L. But I gave Todd my measurements and told him I was between a 40R and a 42R. I got a medium though my shipping confirmation said large. The sleeves fit perfectly! Thanks AC! It gives me more of a Raiders feeling than when I put on my two westeds. It really is the ultimate jacket. Thanks PH! I think the straps are slightly shorter, but they look shorter than they really are in the pic I posted. And yes, this is cowhide. Thanks GCR! I'm just glad the hat came in time to take that picture! It would have been Belloq's stolen Indy jacket ;D. Thanks 'Blues! The jacket is really really light. It's noticeably lighter than my wested lamb (and to think I believed there could be no lighter jacket) The jacket drapes well right out of the box. I talked to Todd on the phone and he was telling me not to worry because the stiffness of the cow would go away with time. I was like ...."Stiffness? what stiffness???" Looks like this one is going to break in well.

Kaplan,
The jacket does look good on you. Not everyone is built the same, though, and I notice how much lower your belt is than your elbows in the tommygun shot above. You have a long torso and you could perhaps use a longer body jacket. But it's not needed because it really does suit you.
Yes, the straps are shorter - in response to the remarks about IB's straps. Strap length is a tough one because the amount of extra strap you have sticking out is adjustable. I'll have to go back to the pics to see what screen accurate is.
The tight shoulders are due to the cut of the yoke - sorry, just one of those SA things. Now you know how Harry's jacket felt.

I really think that I have saved money and time buying from you because I have always been satisfied. As for the cut of the yoke....it gives me Raiders flashbacks. You have really nailed it.

Kaplan, I think you've received the nicest Todds so far. I should be receiving mine tomorrow, and I hope it looks as nice as yours. Great job, Todd. 'Blues

I guess that's one advantage to being broke at the moment. I would have ordered one right off the bat but I think waiting for all of the little "kinks" to get worked out first, which always the case with a brand new offering , is the best way to go. It's great though that you guys were brave enough to take the plunge first. I'm sure your jacket IB will be just fine.

Happy 4th everyone! I just tried the G-Mann garden hose sprayer technique on my Todd cowhide. Here's the very Raiders results: Below: Outdoor with flash Below: Indoor Below: Indoor with flash

Hey Kaplan, Lookin' Good Man Are you happy with the results? It looks to me like the Cowhide gets the same type of results as the Lamb. Cheers, G-MANN

Thanks G-Mann! So far, I'm amazed by the results. I've soaked two westeds with worse results. The thing about the cowhide is it really reacts well to Pecard shoe and boot oil, which repels water. It took it a long time to soak any water into it. But when it did, and it dried like I wanted it, I swear I was hearing the Raiders march in my head.

Kaplan, The jacket is looking great, especially with the wrinkles added. Just for the record though.... wetting the jackets down is nothing new. It works very well, but has also been used many times before. Ken

I had just done it in the bathtub, and never thought of just wetting the outer layer. I hadn't heard much about using a hose until recently. But it's all the same in the end. Anyway, I'm loving the results. But I do want to buy a lambskin after seeing G-mann's post. (I'm sure I'm not alone)

I've been debating over doing this to mine, but hesitant. I'd hate to shrink it at all, and also, it's been so hot here lately, I couldn't bear wearing a leather jacket until it dries. I would end up soaking the liner with sweat. Need to wait for a cool day. Anyway, Kaplan, your jacket looks great aftert he treatment. 'Blues EDIT!!! OK, it just starred raining like crazy,...soooo I just took a walk around the block a few times in my Todds, and when it didn't get wet enough, I laid it on the lawn for a few minutes, on each side,....and now I'm wearing it as I type this,..with the air condiditoning on. It wasn't the Gmann water hose treatment,...but it was the Gods raining on me treatment. Will keep you posted of the results, but it already looks better, especially the sleeves and pockets. 'Blues

And how is it done exactly ? I might try it on my Wested cowhide...

Just wet your jacket and either wad it up or wear it while it dries. I did the same thing to my lambskin jacket a year and a half ago... and it worked wonders. The wrinkles are not permanent, but the water does change the look of the leather from that point on. You can also put them in the dryer on tumble dry (no heat), to help break them in. If you're worried about the metal pieces ro whatever, just put it inside a pillow case first. This really helps soften up the jacket, and when used with the watering deal, can really add years to the look. Ken

And how long does it take to dry ?
I'm asking because it must be a liiiittle bit uncomfortable (heavy and humid) to wear a wet leather jacket all day ?
My wested is quite heavy as it is, imagine when wet.

You don't have to soak it through to the liner, just get the outside leather damp. Mine is almost dry after about 2 1/2 hours. It's looking pretty good, .....but how come no one warned me about the smell. The leather smells odd when wet. On the Todds, anyway. 'Blues

O.K...So to achieve that look, one has to wear a wet (damp) smelly leather jacket for 2 1/2 hours ? I hope it can be worn in movement and not sitting still, 'cause taking a long walk in the woods by one's self might be a good idea to avoid anoying anybody with the smell. ;D

what I did was spray my jacket down, then let it hang on a really sturdy hanger in the New Mexico heat for ten minutes until it was halfway dry. Then I wore it for about an hour (watched tv) and crumpled it up and hung it on the same hanger outside for another 15 minutes until it was dry. I recommend it for the cowhide, however, the dry time may very depending on where you live. I live in an adobe mud hut in the 110 degree heat. I'm looking forward to your results 'blues!

So you thought it smelt bad.... on the outside?! Joking aside what do you mean by smell, ammonia? Chemically? Funky? It may be the tanning agents have not been fully washed out. Other jackets I've soaked just smell like leather or not at all.
