Having owned 2 USWings, a vintage cowhide Indy, and a VIP Indy, I was never a big fan, but always liked some other members jackets. Some people get great jackets, while others seem to get junk. It's Pot Luck, it seems. Well, a guy over at COW was selling a USWings vintage lambskin for a song. Actually, for a trade,..my Cooper A-2 jacket. We are shipping the jackets to one another tomorrow. Here are a few pics he supplied: This is the look I have wanted in a lambskin Indy jacket. The grain looks very much like Gmanns "Todds" Prototype jacket he got last year. Very grainy, and very dark. Every other USWings lamb I have seen has been either shiny and smooth, and/or too red in color. This one even has a one piece back, and 2 piece sleeves. It's an XL, which in Wings sizing, should be humongous on me, but the measurements provided speak different. Must be an older model, I don't know. It has a tear in the lining, and the "stuffing" or what have you, has been removed, aiding in the weight and drape of the jacket. Anyway, just wanted to share, and hear your thoughts on this one. Mike, That is one of the BEST LOOKING US Wings Lambskin jackets I have seen. It actually looks pretty screen accurate. I know for a while they had some really nice lambskin. Congratulations Cheers, G-MANN

Yeah, I agree with G-Mann. If US Wings were still offering jackets that looked like that one I'd buy one from them. It seems somewhere down the road they lost their way and started offering less accurate jackets. It looks like you've got yourself a winner there , IB. You don't even have to worry about distressing it even. Can't wait to see how it looks on you.

That think looks fantastic. I love the graining and the wear. Looks very authentic. I hope you'll be pleased with it.

Here's a pic of the tear in the lining, where the "stuffing" was removed. From what I've read, some of the Wings jackets have very weak linings. I'm thinking if the jacket suits me, I will have the liner replaced with this: What do you think?? Not screen accurate, but cool as hell!!

US Wings really do have a source of really nice leather in their antique lamb. It's got deep permanent wrinkles and uneven bits. Unfortunately certain parts of their pattern don't look right, the pocket flaps for one, position of the strap in relation to the pocket and the big arm holes mean they have to really over taper the sleeves. Don't get me started on their zipper, it really is nasty. So rough and scratchy. That jacket looks really nice though, give it a good beating! Water does wonders!

The leather on this jacket looks pretty soft and well worn. Congrats on finding one with the right color and look to it, leatherwise. I also think the liner idea would make for a very cool and unique jacket! Congrats, Ken

Thanks guys. I really hope she fits. It's not the best Indy jacket out there, but something about this one really speaks to me. KT is right, the pocket flaps are awful. It looks like there is enough flap there to actually have it altered, lol. I should have it in my hands next week, along with my replacement "Todds" jacket. 'Blues

Well, got the jacket yesterday, and I really like the look of it, even though it's FAR from screen accurate. It's really beat up(exactly what I was expecting , since I have 3 other Indys in great shape), and has some nice grain and distressing. It says it's an extra large, but fits more like a large. I have a feeling the guy ran it through the washer and dryer, to shrink it a bit, and boy did it ever. It has a nice 80's style fit on me, but I still need to shed a few pounds for it to fit nicer. Workin' on it. Anyway, on to the pics. Front,...dig that distressing. Back,...I thought the back panel reached the edges of the yoke, but not the case,...damn Wings cost cutters Collar,....made in China??? WTF?? The label is sewn in,...weird. Holy GIANT pocket flaps, Batman!!! POW!! Nice wear, though. Look at that grain!!! I love it. It's hard to believe it's lambskin. Last but not least,...a few pics of me in it. Scary! ;D Pardon my appearance, I took these right after work. My shirt has crazy sweat stains. I will take some better ones after I get the liner replaced. Speaking of, another reason I think it was shrunk, is that the liner seems to sag out of the back, AND the sleeves. No worries, I already located a reputable tailor to replace it, only 5 minutes from my home. I also want to see if he can install an elastic strap between the pleats. The one side tends to stay open, like the stunt jacket. What do you think? 'Blues

Thanks Kaplan. It is a bit small in the body, but I am planing on shedding a few pounds over the summer. It is much needed, lol. As far as the "other" jacket,...I must confess, it arrived yesterday, but I want to look it over a bit, and take some good outdoor pics of it, and in it. I'll tell you this, it is 100% better than the previous jacket, in looks, feel, and fit. Stay tuned to my Todds jacket thread for more updates. Mike

IB, that's a hell of a nice lookin' Wings you got there! I am not a fan of jacket "newness" so I always love seeing a nicely distressed and well worn Indy jacket like your here. SA or not, that thing looks great! So...wait a minute, this "US" Wings jacket was made in China?! -GCR

I thought this was an actual vintage lamb based on the seller's photos, though the new pics show it's a very washed Antique Lamb. It does look nice and broken in, Blues! And it looks great on you! There is just something that really works on this jacket as a hybrid Indyesque daily wear jacket.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I like it, and think it will be a great "beater" jacket. I'm going to have a few things done to it, to restore it, and then I'll post more pics.
GCR, this is indeed a Chinese made jacket. I'm thinking Peter should look into where they are getting the skins. This leather would ROCK in a Wested. 'Blues

Congrats on getting a well worn jacket made with some great Indy looking leather! It actually looks alot better on you than it does lying on the floor for the pics. The back panel doesn't look as narrow and the drape of the jacket seems to draw the eye away from the pocket flaps. Just think, with the money you saved... you can afford some razorblades! ;D Just kidding of course... don't show up and kill me, since I know you have my address. Ken

'Blues Wow, I was thinking maybe something got scewed up at the factory and they put that in there by mistake. By the way where did you get that Raiders lining shown in that one post? I forgot to mention that it looks awesome. I'd love to own a leather jacket with that in there.

Hey Harry, that material was originally created for a Disney button up short sleeve shirt. Very Hawaiin in style. I was searching through some Indy stuff on Ebay, and lucked into it. I haven't seen it before, or since. It's a nice big piece, about 3X9 square yards. Lots of possibilities, but a jacket liner came to mind first. 'Blues

Yeah, that was very lucky and it's a great find. I've never seen anything like that shirt before either. I really need to start checking out Ebay more.
