Hello all
As some of you might know I am considering to start a production of custom made Indy leather-gear. I have been making custom leather items, belts, bags, pouches and scabbards for medieval reenactors and LARP'ers for a couple of years now - leathercrafting is by no means a new thing for me.
The main philosophy behind the project is to provide people with more options as to which of the movies they would like their gear to represent and the chance to have their gear made to suit their special wishes and needs.
As a start I am planning to offer the following items (pleace note that I am not taking orders, this is only an inquiry):
Gunbelts, made to measure, hand-sewn (not riveted), in three distinct styles; ROTLA, TOD and LC. Made in high quality leather, with or without creased edges. A gunbelt will cost around 25 Euros.
Backstraps, made to measure, mounted with chicago screws, in two distinct styles; ROTLA/TOD and LC. Made in high quality leather, with or without creased edges. A backstrap will cost around 30 Euros.
Whipholders, made to measure, hand-sewn, in two styles; a simple screen accurate whipholder and a more practical "non-slip" whipholder. The screen-accurate whipholder will cost around 5 Euros and the "non-slip" version will cost around 10.
At a later time a ROTLA S&W holster, a TOD Colt holster and a LC Webley holster may be added to the product-range. These holsters will cost from around 50-75 Euros.
All the products will, as standard, be made in either dark brown or tan (customer's choise), but for around 2 Euros extra it will be possible to order the products in a wide varaity of colours.
The backstraps will, as standard, come with cromed/silvered buckels, but brass and, for the ROTLA/TOD style, antique brass buckels (in the same styles as the cromed/silvered ones) can be offered for no extra cost (if brass is chosen the belt will be mounted with brass chicago screws as well).
All products will, where applicable, be finished/coloured on all sides and the leather will be sealed to keep the colour from bleading onto clothing (though no guarantees will be given).
What do you say? Does the idea sound totally crazy? Are the prices reasonable?
I have the prorotype for the ROTLA/TOD backstrap ready - I will post pictures later.
