I brought this up in the Lounge Chat Room last night and I decided to make a post about it to. I was going through some of my stuff the other night and I ran across my Wested Certificate that came with my Indy jacket. When I first got the jacket I kind of glanced at this and didn't really look to closely at it. Well, when I pulled this out the other night I did and found something odd. It does say the that this is a "Raiders Jacket" at the top which is what I ordered. I mistakenly told the guys last night that this is where it said Temple of Doom. It mentions Temple of Doom down below. Here are the pics of the cert. I blew up the part I found odd. Ok, so is this just a typo or do all the certs. say this down below? If it's not a typo then how can my jacket truly be a Raiders jacket if it was cut from the original patterns of the TOD jacket? I'm totally confused by this. That and the way I understand the story Peter never worked on the TOD jackets. Another odd thing about my jacket that I've learned recently is that they never included a size tag in my jacket like everyone else's. Now don't get me wrong. If the jacket is some kind of a mistake then it worked out in my favor because it fit me perfect. I love it and wear it everywhere. I'd just like to know what exactly it is I have on my hands and if I didn't get what I originally ordered which was a Raiders jacket?

OK Pitfall, here's what I know:
I've owned two Westeds. My current jacket that I bought in 2003, which I still wear regularly and my older Wested that I bought in 1999 and sold to Indiana Janice a few years back. While there were a few differences between the certificates (mainly the type of paper used) NEITHER of them said anything about ToD. Both said they were hand cut from the patterns used for Raiders. I still have the cert from my 2003 jacket (like a lame-o I have it framed in my home office ;D ) and there's nothing about TOD on there.
You are also correct, jacket lore holds that Peter was not involved with the jackets for TOD, so how he could even have a pattern for the jackets used in that film is up for debate. Then again, whether or not he has the original Raiders patterns is debatable as well, and we all know he was involved with that film.
I honestly put little to no faith in the certificates Wested provides. They may potentially stretch the truth a bit in what they say, but to me, the cert is just a cool reminder that the jacket I've got on my back was made by the same guy who made some jackets for Raiders over 25 years ago. That's all the cert ever really meant to me.
Oh, and the fact that the cert calls your jacket a "Raiders Jacket" is simply because (as far as I know) when Peter started selling these jackets, he simply called them ALL Raiders jackets. It didn't matter what style you wanted, it was still a "Raiders" jacket. I could be wrong on that one though.
Either way, you got yourself a rare breed of Wested there, Harry, regardless of what the cert says, as it fits you, looks great, came without any issues and is made from that oh-so tough goatskin. Wear it well, my friend!

Thanks GCR. I was fortunate enough not to have any "issues" with the jacket itself like a lot of others have had recently and it is a goat which like you said are now rare. I guess this cert. is just a little mistake like you see sometimes on comic covers or toy figure packaging.

I think the only mistake is that someone at Wested tossed a ToD cert in with your Raiders style jacket. I'm sure they've got hundreds of those certs laying around to stuff in the package with jacket orders, and since Wested has three Indy jacket versions, they must have three types of certs. Someone probably just grabbed the wrong one when your jacket went out.
I sincerely doubt that your jacket is actually a ToD style...and I doubt that it was a printing error on Wested's part...probably just a simple mix-up. I'd rather get the wrong cert than the wrong jacket! (No offense, Wex!) ;D

I've got one that reads the same except the last bit says Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. But the headline still says Raiders. It's true that to this day Peter refers to all of them as Raiders Jackets, so over the years they have had certs that say Raiders, TOD or LC. They may have all 3 in the shop, don't put any store in it.

Only Wested does not make a true TOD jacket. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

And maybe they do refer to all Indy movies as "Raiders" (I, II and III) - just like Spielberg does in the "behind the scenes" documentary on the DVDs ...
