Hello everyone. I m writing to reply to Patterson with regard to the EASTMAN A2 thread Jorenz posted on the other forum.
I cannot write there because Patterson banned (deactivated my account) me because I dared not to like his favorite Aero A2, or because I dared to have a different opinion than his, make your choice.
I remind you that Jorenz has posted a photo of an EASTMAN A2 and asked our opinions.
This gives me every right to write my opinion whether or not I am an expert like you say you are. My opinion was that EASTMAN is better than others like Aero or Real Mccoy and based my opinion on the photos.
By seeing those photos I can judge which jacket will fit me best. I am after that slim fit we see in those WWII era photos.
I am sorry that you feel it is my mistake to like a jacket that will fit me. I also gave other reasons why I don't like the Aero.
But you instead of sticking to the point and discuss the jackets giving valuable arguments you preferred to personally attack me and insult me. Fine.
As I said many times but you ignored repeatedly, I just stated my opinion on the jackets and do not expect to convince anyone.
But someone who asks my opinion on what jacket to buy, I feel that I ought to point out to him what I consider advantages and disadvantages about the jackets and let him decide in the end.
The bad fit is a disadvantage no matter how accurate is the jacket. The Aero has large epaulets/shoulders and if someone wears it it will fall down on his shoulder and that looks bad, period.
You don't need to have a high sense of fashion to see that.
I feel obliged to advise people who ask for opinions that I see this "discrepancy" in the Aero.
If, despite that, they still want to buy it that's their decision and I respect it.
But you didn't even let that poor guy Jorenz to tell us how he feels about all that info you gave him. You were busy eliminating me.
And not only you didn't give proper response but you shut me down so others can't see the opposition. You shut me down although I everyone knows was very polite and presented valuable arguments.
Perhaps you did so because you feel that I am ruining your image of a jacket expert if my posts prove your jacket allegations wrong, I don't know. You tell me.

What is with those guys over there? Do they have something against independent thought? Why don't they make it so only the admins & mods are allowed to post? So then the only opinions posted are ones they approve of? ~Jace

I really don't think Patterson is a member here. Sorry to hear about your 'deactivation'. Happens to the best of us. Happened to me too.

Welcome aboard Platon, don't worry about him here. Everyone has to abide by the same rules.

Platon. Welcome to the Lounge.
Patterson is a member here. He joined a few days ago but has yet to post.
We try to be open minded here and not ban people or delete accounts for having thier own opinions.
The only banning that we have had here was due to a Member attacking another member personally.
Cheers, G-MANN

You know, that kind of thing is the main reason that I hardly post over there anymore...you should be free the say "Personally, I don't like it." if that's what you think. I mean, you can't call someone an a-hole for buying from one vendor over another, but you should be allowed to express your opinion without getting dog-piled by the faithful followers of the other vendor...

As someone that has bought gear from almost every vendor that makes Indy gear these days, I have never come out and said "WOW, this piece of Gear is CRAP." Only once or twice have I actually thought that.
Nor have I ever tried to steer anyone away from a Vendor.
Now most of the folks here know which vendors I prefer and will try to send business in that direction.
Other than a Gift from Marc, I have never gotten free gear from a vendor or asked for a kickback of any kind. When I have made the special offer deals every single penny of that was from my pocket.
Therefore when I do put in a good word for a vendor it is absolutely because I think it is worth the money even though it is only my opinion.
Cheers, G-MANN

GMann,
Well, that should be the only reason to recommend a vendor -- because you think that their stuff is a good deal for the price. I have my favorites, that doesn't necessarily mean that the other vendor's goods are substandard, it may just mean that there's something that you particularly like more on the one offering that you don't on the other. And the next guy may like something on the other vendor's offering more than the one you prefer. I would only steer someone away from a certain vedor/maker is I thought that they would be totally wasting their money, which is something I would hope that others would also do for me...

Hi Platon and welcome to the Lounge. I had my account over there deactivated as well, and I have no official idea why (I do have an unofficial one though ). As far as this place goes, here is a little of what we are and are not in some cases: 1. We are a friendly group of folks who enjoy the details of the gear, but also using it as well. We are not stitch counters as a group, though some fall in that category. We enjoy wearing the gear/clothing in everyday life or in various creative endeavors. 2. We open the subject matter up to many different topics, as none of us live and breathe only Indy. As long as it's not illegal or immoral, it's fair game to post and talk about. The shared interests really make it more fun, IMO. 3. We try to have fun, while also being informative. This means we are not overly critical of each other's contributions, unless they ask for it specifically. Even then, we treat each other as friends.... not competitors. 4. We don't hold back in the promotion of, or honest assessment of gear/offerings from any vendor. Without the full story, people wind up wasting there hard earned money. Therefore, you will find vendors talked about here that are not at the other place, and some honest opinions given that would be hushed or deleted there as well. 5. This is not a COW gripe board. We exist in spite of them because we didn't like the way they did things. So, by taking our party somewhere else... we wouldn't be accused of breaking their rules. However, we don't exist so that people can hop over and complain about this person or that admin/moderator elsewhere. We are almost all adults, so at the same time, we don't limit what people have to say if they have an issue. It's just not the focus of what we do or why we are still around and growing rapidly after almost a year. 6. All that being said.... while we don't hover over people's threads and moderate stuff to death, we won't allow someone to be personally attacked here or let this place become a fighting ground for an argument that started elsewhere. I thought all that would help explain a little of who we are. Feel free to post or respond to whatever, and have some fun with the added freedom and great people this place offers. Ken

I agree with Pastimesteve, that description sums it all up very nicely, Ken!

LOL! Well, Platon is at least consistant... His account has never been deactivated - heck I don't have the ability to do that and have confirmed with the guys who do that it never happened. He has his nose bent because I called him on other "misleading statements"... I repeated many times he has a right to his opinions, just not to misrepresent what he "knows", i.e. never having handled the goods... Opinions are fine, just don't tell somebody you "know" something if they may spend their dough based on what you said... JMO...
BTW Agent 5 - That has to be my all-time favorite Avatar...
Thanks for letting me in the door. I do generally behave myself - just cannot stomach liars...

Welcome aboard Patterson, like I said, level playing field.
But, disagreements should not cross over.
Pull up a seat chill out and start afresh.
We do try to have fun over here too!

Hell I am wide open for a place I can just chill... Policing the kids (sorry, but it feels that way) kinda sucks when you'd like to do just as you say... Thanks for the invite - I'll be around...

That seems to be the foundation of this place. Cow is more Disney and this place is more Looney Tunes. It's more loose, which an adult needs. One thing that's for sure is that this place has made it easier to stay at Cow even when I disagree with some of the policies. This place makes it easier for me to be a good lad over there when I can really be myself here. I know they have certain rules at Cow which the owner wants to maintain and I always had a grudge about it, but no longer because of this place. I can keep myself totally in check at Cow and be myself here. I also have a greater respect for their rules and abiding them simply because I now have the proper outlet for my personality. Oh...and thanks, I love the avatar too. Building blocks of life, my friends. Building blocks of life.

Guys thanks for your warm welcome. I am happy to be among friends.
Really? Then why I couldn't login? It's not the first time it happens. It has happened before in some other A-2 thread. I have all the email exchange with the admin to prove it anytime so please don't push it.
I didn't say I know anything. I just said "look at the bloody photos" and you will see long epaulets, narrow storm flap, uneven pocket flaps. I meant that one should look at these things before he buys.
Ha ha. You call me a liar? If you didn't deactivate my account then why would I post here since its the same people who read the posts in the two forums?
You keep saying I misrepresent the facts. How did I do that? Everything I said is supported by the photos I posted. Unless if you suggesting that I counterfeited the photos I posted.
Or are the photos misleading? Online shopping works with photos my dear. And I told you a billion times, I don't consider the Aero inferior. It's just not my choice for the reasons I pointed out and supported with photographic evidence.
Those who wish to buy jackets should know all the facts and then decide. Unless you suggest they blindly follow what you recommend because you are the expert.
(by the way, Eastman who you said doesn't have good stitching uses 8 stitches per inch while Aero uses 7).
A big apology to all the members here for wasting your time with my disagreements with Patterson. It will never happen again. I will invite him on a man to man duel. He he.

I couldn't agree more. I plan on spending more of my time over here and stop lurking so much as a result. I just realized that most of the folks I like over there are over here too. And it doesn't remind me of being a second grader in a Catholic school... I THOUGHT I ALREADY GOT THROUGH THAT!!!! So....Hey guys! how's it going?

Kaplan,
That's what I did -- stopped lurking so much & started posting. It's the only was to get to know everyone & let them get to know you...and I agree that it's a more relaxed feeling over here. I have no hard feelings with anyone at COW, I just feel more apt to post here...
