Hey Guys, I'm beginning to wonder if you really have to wait for conformation from Wested before returning a jacket. Its been another whole week and I haven't gotten a response from them. I just read on their website the return policy and I didn't really see anything about contacting them before returning. All I saw was a statement that said: ( Whilst every effort is made to make the jacket to your specification things sometimes do go wrong. If there is a problem and it needs to be returned do not wear it but return it to us. Enclose full details of the problem so we can remedy it. ) so I'm confused can I just return it with a letter stating what was wrong? Or do I still need to wait for a email from Wested? Sincerely, Prof.Wex

profwex, you may have to make a phone call. Get confirmation first. Let them know you have been trying to contact them via email, with no response. This way you can be assured they know it's on the way. If the L.D. call is not in your budget, then perhaps one of our UK members can help you out. Good luck, 'Blues

If the return shipping cost isn't an issue for you, go ahead and send it back based on their instructions. (They should ship it back to you with no charge but you'll more than likely absorb the cost of sending it to them.) Let them know specifically what the problem is in an enclosed letter. Be sure to include a way to contact you (email) in the enclosed information. Insure it and request a proof of delivery.
It really doesn't seem like it's anything they'll blink at and it should be taken care of pretty quickly. You're almost certainly going to eat the cost of shipping it back, though. If you can overlook that then there shouldn't be a problem.
Contacting them ahead of time is just an extra means of giving Wested a head's up on the issue.

Well Guys, I went ahead and shipped my jacket back today, I enclosed a detailed description of everything that was wrong with the jacket. I also had the jacket insured for a $400.00 dollar value, and I made sure it would have to be signed for. I can track the jacket on line, and if anything goes wrong, I made sure it would be returned to me. ( return to sender ) Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I hope everything gets worked out. The shipping cost was exactly $47.15. I shipped it using the U.S. Post Office..In my email to Peter I told him that I had no problem paying the shipping.. I will let everyone know what happens as soon as I hear from Wested. I'm sure everything will get worked out.. Sincerely, Prof.Wex

Hello there, Well I just got an email from Gemma saying that my corrected jacket will be shipped within the next 10 days, so Im pretty excited, hopefully it will fit this time. Also Im keeping my fingers crossed on the square sliders. I dont think I got any special treatment as far as being put back into rotation, because the wait time for my return has been the same as the first time I ordered it. I would say 25 to 26 days, but Im not complaining Im just excited that its almost done.. cant wait to post the comparison pics for everyone. Sincerely, Prof.Wex

Good to read, that it seems to come to an good end finally! I'm crossing fingers for you! But I am afraid, they still do not have a new source for the rectangular sliders. But hey, that's a very minor point and can be changed later easy. I'm looking forward to seeing you in your new jacket!

I don't understand why Wested doesn't just order in bulk from Strapworks! If they place a large order, which they would, it should defray the shipping costs...has anyone ever mentioned this to them? The rectangular sliders from Strapworks even come anodized black if you want...just my thoughts...

Glad to hear that you are set to receive the jacket back. Here's hoping they made a new one for, since I don't know how much could have been done to the old one and still have the leathers match. BTW, if you don't receive the rectangular sliders with the jacket, you can always get them from: www.strapworks.com/Metal_Loops_p/ml.htmRemember to order the 1" loops in "Flat Black" and you'll be set. The total cost is around $3.00, though it would be nice not to have to spend any more money to get what you ordered from Wested. This link is also in the "Where To Buy" thread for jackets and the main one as well, for future reference. EDIT: Right after posting, I noticed the sliders being mentioned by Tyrloch... oh well. Ken

But it does seem a small price to pay!

With shipping included, it only cost me something like $3.00. Granted, I'm in the US, but if they place one huge order, which they would need to for that many jackets, the shipping should be to bad...they weigh hardly anything, so the only thing that would possibly make the shipping cost high would be because Wested is in the UK...

WEX,
Glad to see that you finally got a response from Wested on this. It's about freakin' time. You know, Wested has really got to do something about things like this, before their business really suffers.
Then again, I know certain people want to further their own agenda by dredging up the old "Peter is a liar and a fraud" routine, and thus skewer Wested once and for all, but I'm not drinking that kool-aid. That being said, I DO think Wested should be ASHAMED of how they handled this entire situation with your jacket from start to finish. The fact that they sent you the wrong jacket, refused to return your correspondence and then made you wait an additional month for your correct order is UNACCEPTABLE. I honestly hope Peter is able to reassess his Customer Service and quality control before his reputation suffers irreparable damage. Then again, if certain people have their way, his reputation will be destroyed soon enough.

Wex, I've been following this thread for a while and like GCR, I'm not going to call Peter names. But I do think that jacket you have is ridiculous and any businessman that's worth his weight in squirrel hide would take it back at his own expense, fix it immediately, send it back promptly, and apologize. I have had the pleasure of talking to Peter at length a few times. I like the guy. I just think he running a disorganized operation. I know what that's like, as I am a business owner too and am also very goofy and disorganized. I have two jackets from Peter. The first one I got an 80's fit without asking, and on the second jacket, I asked for a TOD cut and got a Raiders. I felt it was useless to bring it up to him. I think thats a shame. I silently moved on to Todd's jacket. I'm probably not going to order from Peter again. This is a big deal for guys like us...when you loose us, you loose potential lifetime customers. It's time for him to think about the cost of loosing a lifetime customer. (I'm so used to the other place I'm wondering whose car I should hide under now )

Hey Guys, just received my return jacket, and its a perfect fit. this one has a 40 tag in it and the color is really nice. Very dark brown. the sleeves are dead on and they don't ride up my arms at all when I reach out. I'm gonna post pics in a bit. you will definitely see the difference in this jacket and the first one. especially in the sleeves. .. Sincerely, Prof.Wex

Nice fit, especially under the arms and the wrists. Is it the horse? It looks really soft. (In a good way!).

Very nice Profwex! Great fit and a beauty of a jacket. Your perseverance obviously paid off. Too bad you had to go through all of that trouble.
