There is a seller on ebay named 1ndyj who sells Grail Diary Replicas. I noticed about 3 threads below this one someone inquired about how authentic they looked. What is the consensus among Indy fans regarding this particular replica? I take it no Diary is worth owning unless it was hand-written? Because the 1ndyj one is printed out. I'm at a bit of cross roads. I would love to get a Diary that LOOKED great but also was as authentic as possible; and seeing as Magnoli's work is becoming harder and harder to find, I do not know where to turn.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, IMO there's no better way to make sure something is accurate than to make it yourself. You can get a Magnoli aged sheepskin diary (blank) and write in the pages yourself. I was able to find a great reference CD on eBay. You can probably find a lot of good reference online. I wasn't able to. But that was before I found Indy Lounge. -Josh

I got myself a diary replica from "philbirt" who regularly has one on auction on ebay. It is a printed replica, I will post pics soon. I decided to buy this replica because I just can't get my hands on a genuine looking one...they quickly become out of my price range and I have to abandon the auction...I'm not about to pay $200 (or more) for a book replica ! Some sell for more than $300 !!

I have a 1ndyj diary prop. It is my first and I got it for $276.00 on Ebay. I was very excited to get it. The binding is nice, hardcover front and back and on the spine. It had many inserts and instructions on how and where to place them. It also had a printed wrapper w/ string, not so nice.
I started reading it like a novel and have noticed errors. Something happened I believe when it was printed. Some lines stop mid page and drop a line. There are no underlines in the text as in the story diary from the game. I am not trying to be mean and disrespectful. I obviously appreciated the product due to the price I paid. These are the things I have found wrong with it. They may be minor, but do we not want perfection in the replica? Is that not why it is said it is better to make your own hand written diary? I see that now.
I take the diary with me everywhere. It feels good in the hand. The pages are nicely aged and the inserts are plentiful. Some are the wrongs size and others could be more accurate and clearer. I have started replicating my own inserts for this diary, to improve on it. The printing is very clear and legible. One or two pics are a little pixelated. The blueish color is missing from the appropriate pages. And the biggest omission is the 3 trilas page. Maybe THE most important page because of the help it gives in getting Indy through the boobie-traps.
I love this diary, it will always be my first. Surely not my last. And with everyones help someday I will handmake my own.
