By the way.....thanks for posting the link to that video. I just watched it. That is really interesting and also has me a little worried about Indy 4. The skull can give life or take it away. It also sounds like it can be used to pass knowledge on from one person to another....... I'm worried we're going to see Indy mortally wounded at some point during the film.

your welcome. I know, I hope that doesn't happen too. But I don't think spielberg and lucas would do the unthinkable... would they? Ah, that's much better.....now I can get a better look without having to scroll from side to side. I can see where RB said there's a little bit of a difference in the color or "hue" between the regular part of the skull and the jaw portion. How long have you owned that skull, ihatesnakes? Maybe the jaw becomes loose after a certain amount of time like RB's did OR RB got a defective one from the start. I didn't want to take the chance so that's why I went for one where the mouth didn't open. And oh, don't get me wrong. I think your's is gonna be really nice. As for mine, I got it on monday so maybe the jaw will get looser. But that won't bother me because I think the jaw should come loose anyway because the real one that it's modeled after is a separate piece altogether(in the video). That's what I really like about this one. The fact that I can take it off all together for an even cooler look. Here's some more pics of it.

Ha! That's pretty darn cool. I didn't know you could pop the jaw off on that one. By the way where did you end up buying that one from? I've seen those and the other one RB owns all over the net and at all different prices. For the amount I paid for mine I'm *hoping* it's at least "above avarage" as far as details and realism go. It would have been nice to have one where the mouth opened like that but I just figured a skull that was one whole piece would be easier to shoot action scenes with. It's possible there will be more than one Crystal Skull in the film too. So there might be more than one "style" to collect.

First off, cool skull you've got there, 'Snakes! Secondly, Harry, if you're worried so much about Indy dying in this new film, don't be. After all, the "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" clearly show an older Indy alive and well in the early 1990's. And with the release of that original series on DVD scheduled to coincide with the buzz surrounding the KOTCS trailer, I don't think Lucas would suddenly decide that the YIJC were "non-canon" and disregard the old Indy factor. Not if he wants people to shell out over $100 bucks a pop for each volume. -GCR

Congrats on getting a great looking skull! Did I really just type that? I have that one as well and the jaw does come off, which adds a little creepiness to it I think. Ken

I was under the impression that they weren't.... If they do then I guess there isn't anything to worry about. ;D

You know, that is the same place I bought the one with the moveable jaw. I had totally forgotten that they came from different places too. I bought one, the found the other before the first one arrived. Both of mine were around $20 though, so maybe the prices for this one has just gone up over the past year. You know.... fossil fuels and all. Okay... enough bad skull/bone jokes for this evening. Ken

I have a feeling theres a few more left to tickle somebody's "funny bone." -ooh, that was bad. Sorry, couldn't resist. ;D And mine was $22 or $23 I believe. But I paid $10 more on shipping

Here is the other site that I discovered that was selling the same type of skull I ordered. The reason I didn't order it from this site is because it would have ended up costing me more money... www.spellowhouse.com/gothic_skulls.phpThis is a better shot of what my skull will look like. The site also has other skulls for sale including a medium version that is identical to the "open jaw" version people are purchasing elsewhere. You'll also find that this site is selling some very nice display stands that have LED lights in the center of it. I'm seriously considering buying one of these.

I need to gather all the newer skull vendors and update the "Where To Buy" sections for these. If anybody has some not listed in the recent threads, please let me know so I can add them.
EDIT: Okay, I updated the "Where To Buy" section here in General Prop Collecting and the main section located at the bottom of the hom page. All of the sources listed in these recent threads and the two I used last year are included. Given the increased interest in such things, I figured more choices/sources would be a good thing.
Again, if you have a place that has been missed, please post it and I will add the link.
Thanks,
Ken

Even though I've got one ordered I'm still searching the net for these things. So if I find anymore that I think people might be interested in then I'll send the links. A lot of what I'm running into though are the two skulls you own RB and they've just got them listed for different prices. I'd like to keep searching for different versions that way it gives everyone more choices.......although, right not there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety. Oh, and they do sell real quartz skulls but they don't look that great and most of them are more than a Dave Morgan whip.

Yeah, I remember seeing the real quartz ones for sale too. I wasn't impressed with most of them to be honest. Most just looked like a kid's drawing of a skull to me. The fact that they cost so much and still didn't look as good as the resin, acrylic, and glass versions made it an easy decision.
Between the new movie and Halloween being just around the corner, skulls are selling out pretty quick these days. I'm sure the places with the best prices will restock quickly though.
BTW, the latest photo of the skull you ordered reminds of the Terminator (without the skin, of course). I know it's a clear one, but these things tend to sometimes look chrome in some photos when the lighting isn't set just right. Even though they are clear, the light needs to be under or behind it to show that off. Both of mine are clearer in person than they appear in most all of the photos.

Yeah, lets hope so. I'm thinking about getting a small version of your skull for my son. I think they only run about $15 dollars. That way he'll have his own skull to carry with him on Halloween. By the way did anyone notice in the second skull pic I posted you can see the image of the person taking the picture in it's right eye socket? You've got to look close but there is what appears to be an image of a "person" standing in front of it.

Man, I wish I had the money for one of these (didn't that use to be Harry's line? ;D Just kiddin' PH. )...with my luck, by the time I have any extra dough, these skulls will be twice the price thanks to the new Indy flick. I'm looking forward to some pics once your skull arrives, PH! -GCR

Used to be??? That still is my line! ;D
I just happened to have enough cash this time and since it's my first prop I figured it was worth it because God knows when I'll get another one. ;D
I'm looking forward to getting the damn thing in my hands. ;D I hope since it's from the erotic site that they don't screw up and send me a pair of "Crystal boobs". ;D

Yeah, really.......
"Hey, kids.....look at how these things glow!" ;D
Maybe I could just sit them in the window and let the neighbors see them as they walk down the street. Kind like the father's "Leg Lamp" in A Christmas Story. ;D

Just a little update. I sent an e-mail to the site I bought my Skull from because I wanted to know when exactly I should expect it. They sent me a reply back saying it was on it's way via the regular postal service and I should have it by next week. I just hope it doesn't get lost or damaged. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow, very cool crystal skull, Harry!!! I like the way that skull looks quite a bit. Seems like your first major Indy prop is a success! And what perfect timing, too!!! Great pics! -GCR

Congratulations, PH! That is a beautiful crystal skull. Mine was delivered yesterday as well, but since I wasn't home to sign for it, I won't get it until later today.
