I had a friend in high school who had an '81 DMC. They sure don't run like in the movies. His had a weak V6 that I believe was made by Peugeot. On top of that, it was mated to an automatic transmission. It had excellent leather seats but the rest of it was very shoddy. The DMC was originally used in the movie as a joke but somehow they made it seem cool. They can still be found for sale in the States. I saw one for sale locally for $19,000. If it is ever reproduced, I hope they improve the quality.

I thought there was some kind of controversy with those gull-wing doors a long time ago......something about banning them because if you get into a wreck and your car flips over and lands on it's top you can't open the doors and you'd be stuck since they hinge at the top!?!

Pitt fall that's not true. In most cases, if you car was in that big of a wreck I would either rip off or cut you out of that thing. hinges don't stop me.
