Hello all, I havent been around the boards the last couple of years, glad to be back! I'm debating tossing my gas mask bag in the washing machine. Anyone have any experience with this?

Keep in mind that these bags were meant to be worn in the field. They're heavy canvas. Similar bags were used in WWI trench warfare. I assume you'll be fine… …that said, if you have a genuine one, I'd be a little more concerned. A repro, I'd say should probably be able to stand a washing no problem. I don't speak from experience, though.

Thank you, sir. That's a good point. Its not a repro, so I will tread carefully in my attempt to clean it.

Yeah, what Baptist said. I'd advise using a damp sponge to scrub the needed areas. As from reproductions, youre golden unless your buttons or vents are loose fitted.

I've put my magnoli repro through the wash with no problems. It's canvas and absolutely no reason why it can't be washed. The original ones often suffer from invisible dry rot around the webbing that holds the strap rings. I'd be wary about washing one for that reason
