Hi All,
I thought I'd share some pics of my new Wested Hero jacket in cow nubuck. I had two other Wested jackets in the past, the first in distressed cow and the second in seal brown lamb and I wasn't keen on either of them tbh. The distressed cow was way too stiff and light in colour and I just wasn't keen on the thinness of the lamb jacket as well as the lack of any real grain. So I talked the misses into a trip to Kent (I live in Cheshire, England about 3-4 hours away)to visit the Wested barn (this was last summer btw). I cannot emphasise enough the importance of visiting Wested if it's at all possible as the main thing I noticed was that there was a huge variation between leathers that were the same! I mean for instance the novapelle came in all sorts of different shades and seemingly different textures, and one jacket was so different from the next. This is to be expected i guess when the jackets are hand-made and not mass produced, and is part of the charm of getting your own personally made Indy jacket!
I met Peter there who was a really nice guy and was really helpful. He measured me and confirmed my size, including the back length which can be really tricky to get right. I was really unsure on what leather I liked so he told me about this cow nubuck leather that had arrived that morning which they don't offer as standard on the website. He told me that the leather is Italian and much more expensive to buy than the rest of the leathers he deals with, but offered to make the Indy Hero jacket for the standard price. The nubuck leather felt soft and supple but no where near as thin as lamb, and was a lovely dark matte colour with plenty of grain, so I ordered one!
It was hard to imagine the finished jacket from a piece of leather so I was really anxious about how it was going to turn out but was completely over the moon when it arrived! I love the dark matte of the leather and the grain is beautiful. I know people have their ideas about which jacket is most screen authentic but I think this must be up in the running as it's a really nice cross between lamb and cow!
I'll try and get the misses to take some pics so you can see the jacket being worn.
Thanks
